It's been a few days, thought I'd throw my 2 cents in .

Defense was awesome. They were on the field a long time and they played tough right til the end. Give UGA credit, they got the first downs at the end of the 4th to seal the game, but that doesn't diminish the defense's effort at all.

DJ didn't play well. That's unfortunate but it didn't upset me greatly. This is his team now and he has huge shoes to fill. That's a lot of pressure for any young man. He seemed shaky from the start but there was a ton of expectation on him coming into a huge game. I have no doubt he will be a lot better as the year goes on and he settles in.

The OL needs help. This is two years in a row it has been a weak link for the team. TL was a mobile QB and could get away from trouble so it didn't hurt as bad last year. DJ is a pocket passer and is not very mobile. He's more of a Dan Marino style QB. If the OL doesn't get better, we might not be able to run the table and make the playoff.

Finally, I wish the coaches called more plays to try and offset the rush that overwhelmed the OL. I would like to have seen the QB roll out more, play action passes, and halfback screens. I haven't re-watched the game, but I don't remember seeing any of those. I readily admit I don't see the whole field like they do so I'm certainly not condemning the coaches, just stating what I would like to have seen them try.

Go Tigers! Let's get another ACC championship!

Good observation. DJ must settled down and take what's given by the Defense. Run or pass as necessary to move the ball. But, his OC must help by better play calling.

It would be wise of us as fans to evaluate our expectations and adjust accordingly. We knew we had a new starting QB, unsettled OL, and shoes to fill at RB and WR. It's completely unfair to expect any QB going forward to perform to the level or Deshaun of Trevor, or any RB to perform to the level of Travis.

We knew this offense has struggled early in the season in the past. We saw the offense struggle two years ago against LSU, and two consecutive years against OH-31-0 in the play-off.

Any time we line up to play, we have to concede that regardless of circumstances, there is always a chance the offense, defense, or ST can have a bad day and lose them the game. Fortunately, it hasn't happened much since 2015, but it's bound to happen from time to time.

We need DJ to improve, but he doesn't have to be a Deshaun or Trevor, especially if the defense plays consistently at a high level. On the other hand DJ could improve to a level of greatness. I would love to see that for DJ. We just shouldn't expect it as fans, and even the great ones have to have the tools to work with.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

Now that I had time so watch the recording-

It actually looked better on tv than it looks from the stands. Our D was A+ fantastic. National champ level.
Our special teams was C+ slightly above average. Georgia was able to use our predictable special teams coaching to pin us deep. Several punts that should have been fair caught but the receiver bailed at the 10 as we coach it. Georgia knew that was our policy and exploited it. Bonus points for the turnover.

Our offense was an F as a whole. They scored -4 points. Our route tree was predictable, and we developed no wrinkles to break tendencies. If there was a “Georgia game plan” developed by our coaches, they must have lost it somewhere after the 4th series. The game plan was good early, but DJ could not execute it. He almost looked like he was playing injured at times. The receivers got open and he missed on several plays. Georgia’s defense was ready for us to abandon the run, and started jumping our routes. Even after the pick-6 we continued running the same concepts, and UGA was in position for at least 1 more pick 6 is DJ hadn’t been bailed out by a great catch.

At the end of the day, DJ looked like he knew when and where to throw, but just could not do it for some reason. O line was actually better than expected on film, and I counted more blown pass pro by the RBs than the O line. The o line looked worse because the ball should have been out in 2-3 sec but DJ held it for 4-5.
On the coaching side - there was 1 adjustment needed to win the game. Throw to the running back out of the back field on check down or swing. That was open almost all night.
How do NFL QBs deal with a 2-3 lb blitz? Throw to the open man. WS proved he could take a 1 yard pass for 5-10 YAC reliably, and we never went back to it.

QB- D- (missing open guys, frozen in pocket)
RB - D (pulled down by the pass pro issues)
WR- C+ (hard to grade because see QB grade)
O line- D (Run blocking F, pass blocking D)
Coaching/play calling on O: F- (Total failure)

After seeing the film, it is clear we could have squeezed out a win with appropriate adjustments.
Our D plays winning football.
Our O would have scored more points if they stayed in the locker room.

My thoughts on your thoughts:
"Defense was awesome" is an understatement. They kept us in the game.
D.J. didn't play well.(You say he has big shoes to fill. Well read on down). You say he seemed shaky from the start .So why didn't the coaching staff pull for one series and try to calm him down. That I blame on the Head Coach.
The OL needs help is another understatement. Georgia's defense made them look like a high school team. That falls on Robbie Caldwell.
I hate it, I mean really hate it when people compare quarterbacks .D.J.no more TL( see above comment on big shoes) than TL was DW.
And then trying to compare his style to an NFL quarterback is like comparing apples to ;well you know what I mean.
Finally, you wish the coaches called more plays to try to offset that rush that overwhelmed our OL. Did you see the look on our Head Coach and offensive coaching staff. They looked to me as if they had no clue. So, go back to my comment about the OL. Our H.C. and our offensive coaching staff looked like a bunch of high school coaches who also teach history as their main source of income.
So there is my 2 cents worth.

Great observations guys I could not see that well from upper deck but in watching replay you seem to be spot on The only place I disagree is that with the play of our defense we could have still won this game My take in losing this game it is with Georgia’s defensive coaches out coaches our offensive coaches Yes Will Muschamp. I keep saying Chad Morris would have found a way to negate our inadequate O line and adjust to what Georgia was doing on defense Georgia spent the night covering the pass and forgot about dealing with the run Kirby said it in the halftime interview ( they are not committed to the run)

I am a big time Trevor Lawrence fan. Because of him, over the last two years I also became a Tigers fan. I was ready to bet big on Clemson for the season opener but that plan got abandoned when the capper that I religiously follow (Betting Resource) released a 10/10 play on Georgia moneyline early. Seeing that pick put a dagger in my Clemson hopes for this season since it was the first game of the season. Now they will have to run up the table to have any chance in national championship and it might be difficult. Since my heart was heavily with Clemson, I didn't bet the moneyline. I put the money on Georgia +3.5 instead and was hoping for a close Clemson victory. Because of that i was in the edge of the seat watching the game till the end since it was close. Oh well.
