Edisto is pretty quiet this week.

Reminds me a bit of Holden Beach in that regard. Haven't tried any local bars yet, but the kids went to Whaley's last night and said it was fun. I wanna try McConkey's maybe today.

We're heading to Sunset beach this weekend

Last year when we went to Ocean Isle we felt out of place due to our lack of tattoos and facial piercings, so I'll be curious to see if we have the same experience at Sunset this year.

We'll have two 3 year olds so it's OK if some of the nightlife and restaurants are closed. Hopefully the fishing piers are OK so I can go fishing without a boat like a poor.

I bartended for a summer at the Pavillion, not sure what it’s called now. Spent many summers working at EWT, not sure what bar/restaurant/coffee shop is above there these days. Dockside right next to it is a classic. Sunset Grill used to be good back in the day, bunch of names have come and gone there since. Whaleys is always cool.
Best food on the island is the food truck behind Flowers. OPO was stellar back in its day, who knows if it’s still open. If you feel like driving a bit, Angel Oak on the outskirts of West Ashley on 17 right where you turn towards Hollywood is a great spot. Best part of Edisto is and has always been cooking at home though.
If you want to go catch crabs without a crab pot, drive down the end of Legare and go down the causeway toward Jeremy Cay. Just past the bridge you can walk down to the right to Frampton creek & drag chicken necks and catch bunches of crabs. Go at low tide.

But I like the "cooking-in" aspect of a place like tis.
Also, very low risk for DUI arrests walking from the grill to the kitchen.

At least the times we have been there. Going there (Edisto Beach) in a couple of weeks. Four couples and one single (again).

Surf fishing? No, not great, but it ain’t bad either. I’ve pulled reds out of the surf, saltwater cats, more sharks than I care to remember, stingrays, tons of whiting. About all we don’t get there are blues and pompano.
Everything else is stellar. My PR red, black drum, tarpon, trout, flounder, Spanish, etc are all from around Edisto.

He's a guide and a tournament fishing guy--got skunked on Reds for 4 days. I caught a shark there once.
Its just boring AF there to me. I can't just sit on a beach all day--just doesn't do anything for me. And if I really felt the need to do that, I'll either uber, or ride my bike to Sullivan's/IOP 3 miles away. And if I decide to eat CFA...or anything I don't want to cook--I don't have to drive 45 minutes to get it.
Maybe its just me--I have never understood the allure of the place.
