It might be a net loss for A&M

but I wonder if this pi$$es them off enough to want to jump ship - possibly to the ACC. With ND, that would put everyone in a much better position. That dumba$$ Swoford though and his weak a$$ deal with ESPN ...

The fact that A&M left the Big 12 to get away from the Texas teams and now knowing this was done behind their backs might make them consider another conference. They are one of the richest schools in the U.S. and should be a welcome member anywhere.

Easier to get forgiveness than permission. Harder to be the bad guy when the deal is almost done. Plus, it kept other conferences from being able to sweeten the pot to get them to join. Good move by SEC. I'm sure SEC TV contract just went up by millions if this happens.

I would love to see Oklahoma and/or Texas go in there and knock down some of the traditional SEC powers.

If A&M can get four other $EC schools to vote no...

all of this chatter may turn out to be for nothing.
Does A&M have four friends in the SEC who would vote with them?
If you're one of the leagues current middling teams or bottom feeders, this move effectively adds two more likely losses to your schedule.

Saban is in charge, isn't he? I'm sure he was in on the first round of discussions.

The only advantage they get from it is more money. Money hasn't helped any of them so far.

It would be the schools who have in state rivals not...

currently in the SEC. Florida, SCU, Georgia, etc... Those schools, who don't want their in state rivals in the SEC, would possibly be sympathetic, or at least that's the thought process.

Yes--that would make sense. Those schools might even have an agreement to stick together if and when their rival(s) tried to gain membership in their conference.

Does Vandy, Ky., USUCK, Miss.State, or maybe Tenn. losing 2 more games really matter? They are going to pretty much suck anyhow.

Oklahoma would probably lose 1-2 a year. Their defense is absolute ##### since venables left. The SEC has started to discover the forward pass.

As would Penn State. The Penn State Blue Band is a great college marching band.
