Schedule for next season - tough choice in third week
Jan 17, 2017, 3:31 PM
|
|
The third week of next season (Sept. 16th), every ACC team except Clemson, FSU, Louisville, and Miami are scheduled to play a nonconference game. Since we don't play Miami, that means we either have to play FSU at home, Louisville on the road, or take our bye that week. I don't like the idea of playing Auburn and then either FSU or Louisville on consecutive weeks, especially so early in the season with our young offense. But a bye means we have to play 10 (hopefully 11) consecutive weeks without a break. Which option would you take?

Split the season in half.

Play the tough ones back to back while they haven't seen much of us. We are much strong on defense which is how you win the early games and cover up the fact that your offense isn't quite tuned to race yet. IMO.

it will probably be @Louisville

that would leave Miami-FSU matched up to play. Anything else (ex. FSU-Lville) and there would have to be several byes. Too early to have a bye week IMO.

It will likely be @ UL. The ACC will not want Auburn @ Clemson and FSU @ Clemson in back to back weeks I wouldnt think. They will be FSU @ Clemson in October.

Louisville. Our D will be good enough to shut down Lamar.

I just checked Louisville's schedule and they don't play Miami either. It will either be Louisville or a bye week.

It amazes me how the ACC can't seem to figure out it doesn't benefit the conference to have the division leaders play each other so early in the season. When the division championship is basically won in week three or four, it doesn't give viewers outside of the conference much of a reason to watch the games that follow. Instead you would think they would want Clemson, Loserville, or FSU not playing each other until the second half of the season.

I would take Louisville on the road. The Cardinals were shot down in their last three games. Put enough pressure on action Jackson and he becomes Lame Lamar. And their defense can definitely be had. Even with a young offense, I think the Clemson defense is enough. DD's loser- Louisville.

Fair point. Let's go ahead and call Swoffie and see if we can get Kent St Auburn @ UL (thurs) FSU @ VT (thurs) @ NC St (fri) BC (tues) @ Cuse (wed) GT (mon) Wake (sun) Citadel @ USuCk
We don't care when the game is played. Spot the D@mn ball!
Actually, if this is what he thinks we want, we might get a good schedule... Reverse Psychology
