handles the current recruiting class for USC. You know there are players on Oklahoma that he would love to take with him. So, how he handles that while staying under the total scholarship number at USC will be his first order of business. I say that because, as more news becomes available, this move has been in the works for quite awhile, and he probably already pretty much has his coaching staff in order. He just has to space the announcements out over a few days to make it at least look like it was not a Fait Accompli.

THEIR recruiting, it means that some offers are going to be withdrawn from kids, or maybe even scholarships taken from current players. That is the ugly "business" side of big time college football that some coaches navigate far differently than others.

In the SEC, it's "Over sign and then cull" players. So much so that the toothless NCAA tried to regulate this via rule, but it is still done.

Dabo is more discerning, believing in signing the correct number, and hoping there are no "misses". Even he has finally admitted that present culture will force him to take players from the transfer portal potty going forward.

Throw in the uncertainty of what the total number even IS due to Covid, and recruiting for Riley has the potential to be a huge political mess in the short haul. But, once he gets this initial class sorted out, I believe he will own the California landscape in recruiting.
