The split second I knew LJD was back in the doghouse

Sep 21, 2021, 4:18 PM

If hole or edge, then hit hole or edge, else go down. This play started on the GT 48. It ends on our 43.
Running in the opposite direction never helps, with yardage, or senior leadership.

Maybe it's just playing against GT. Roy "Wrong Way" Riegels did the same thing against GT in the '29 Rose Bowl.

I think he did this twice against GT (?) but I'm not sure.....in any event, I wish him well and I know he was trying to do his best. Good luck to him.

Yeah, I think twice. I remember cringing both times.

with Davis Allen on the left side. He ran Lyn J into the teeth of the defense on that play.

However, Lyn J should have stuck it up in there for a yard or two.

so-so career as a pro. But CJ could go 80 yards if he popped it, was a great receiver and returner. Was a true APB. Lyn J was never any of that

People make like Lyn-J is a bum. Just pull up the old youtube and search his highlights. He might not have been CJ or ETN but not many are. Lyn-J is a solid RB and wherever he goes he is going to do just fine. I cant speak to whatever reasons he has to transfer but ####, the dude graduates in December. He didnt transfer when ETN came back. I say thanks for what you've done young man and good luck in the future.

I don't think he is solid between the ears. THat counts just as much.

It's never ideal, but Spiller had the speed to recover sometimes. LJD not so much. I'm guessing a bad habit learned in HS where he could do that. I saw a kid playing against my HS 30 years ago run in a backwards arc across the whole field once. About 30 yards of running for a 10 yard gain. HS-maybe. College. no.

Lyn J bounced everything outside for 3+ years

Sep 21, 2021, 4:28 PM

that's his shortcoming on the field. Shipley ran between the tackles when the crease was there. So does Pace. Lyn J never has, never will. Didnt work for him last year either

In the photo, I also notice that Galloway appears to simply be a spectator on this play....he ain't having a good start this year either. I would like to see #84 more, he seems to be able to catch the ball.

My apologies....that is #98 spectating and not #88. I have NO criticism about #98. Still would like to see more of #84.

Sep 21, 2021, 4:38 PM

He missed a lot of blocks, including one on the play out of the endzone that resulted in the safety. Plus he has had several drops. If a tight end can't block or catch, he doesn't need to see the field.

Galloway is looking like Jordan Leggett before he decided to take football seriously.

A couple killer drops this year and definitely not a feisty blocker.

We might have to lock Ajou Ajou in the weight room all off-season.

Just an observation but it appears as if the whole Oline and Galloway are spectators on that play

if he hadn't run in the opposite direction in Charlotte

Sep 21, 2021, 6:20 PM

we would have had minus 8 yards rushing for the night. He always has to do that because there is no blocking. He literally would have had a better chance there if we had no offensive line on the field. THen they wouldn't have all been pushed back into him. He could maybe dart and run around GT defensive line.

Re: if he hadn't run in the opposite direction in Charlotte

Sep 21, 2021, 6:40 PM

Actually, before this play LJD had nice little burst right up the gut, maybe 4 yards. If you're getting 4 yards a play that's all you need. I understand these guys wanting to "make something happen", but they also need the discipline to know when NOTHING is going to happen. ie, the play is blown up.

I think he did this twice and then got pulled. DS or TE probably said "run forward, or go down, or get benched." It's just simple recognition and discipline. It actually makes our coaches look bad, cause I KNOW they weren't coaching him to do that. Which means he was just not listening, or paying attention, or following instruction, and got yanked.

Re: The split second I knew LJD was back in the doghouse

Sep 21, 2021, 6:47 PM

My very unexpert analysis.
]Watched the play 3 times.

Here is what I saw.

1. He was dancing in the backfield from the moment he touched the ball. He did not "hit the hole and then bounce outside."

2. It appeared to me that if he had taken the ball and hit the hole with purpose it was there. Not a TD run, but he would have been past the LOS when first contact was made and it would be been a DL reaching out with an arm tackle. There was no DL or LB sitting in the hole and attacking him.

I can see where coaches would be frustrated with the execution. It looked like he was running like it was zone blocking and he was supposed to bounce down the line and cut upfield when he saw the hole.
