It seems the wind gave Augusta National some teeth today.

Apr 7, 2022, 7:08 PM

A few scored well under par, not that many. Our Lucas Glover is T19 with an even par round of 72. With the wind drying out the greens, and forecast to increase tomorrow, a round one or two under par will likely move UP the leader board.

They are calling for gusts of 30+ mph at times tomorrow. Not only will that play havoc with golf balls, it will blow snootfuls of pollen out of those stately Augusta pine trees.Players with allergies will certainly suffer. Those with sensitive eyes will also be miserable.

I played a round in "yellow wind" from pollen many years ago at a course named Pineland Plantation in Turbeville. (I think it still exists, but has maybe been renamed?) My neck swelled up and locked my head into position for a couple of WEEKS after that. Never again. I think that was the turning point in my golfing life where I finally figured out, "You know, there ARE some days where you are better off just staying home instead of playing golf."

It should be an interesting day on Ye Olde Golfing Grounds tomorrow.

It’s been a speed trap since automobiles were invented.

hehehehe true so true...I am amazed at the places the state troopers and city police can hide there.I go thru there all the time when I go to the Clemson-South Carolina Football game in Columbia and you better watch your speed that day because the city police are smart knowing people are going to the game will be wanting to get there fast and coming back late at night I have seen them then too.

How about mentioning Carlisle (between Whitmire and Chester) if you are talking about speed traps. Got me once, but never again! Speed limit drops from 55 to 35 and when you pass the 35 MPH sign you had better be going 35 or less!

Highway 17 in Ravenel just south of Charleston used to be a favorite too.

The good news I hope is Lucas tees up at 810.

If the wind predictions hold true on the weather channel website then Lucas should be fine in the morning.According to the hourly forecast for Augusta tomorrow it shows only 4mph when Lucas tees off at 8:11,it's the ones that tee off at 11am and beyond that will be fighting the gusty conditions of 15mph and on up.

I played that course many times. I played my better golf there. Don't know why though. Fairways were narrow and fox squirrels were everywhere. That course is now closed and has been for a few years now. Fairways are overgrown now. Always liked that course.

Nice recovery by Lucas yesterday after going +4

on his first 5 holes. That bogey on 18 kept him out of the red.

We now have to wait and see if the afternoon wind will push the cut line to +4 or higher.

I am absolutely crushed. No joke, I shed a tear when he left his 3rd in the bunker. Ideal position after birdie on 16... And then perfect drive on 17. Think I posted in another thread that the sand has been his nemisis all year... Above the putting. Sooo many chances. Good chances. Just not good course management on 17 or 18. Your miss is left on both holes. Play them conservative.

Sorry, rant over. Blow wind blow. A golf tourneys just not a golf tourney without a Tiger in it. A Clemson Tiger that is.

I’m enjoying watching these guys struggle this afternoon with the wind. I love when the conditions allow Augusta to be the true test of mastery it was designed to be.
