he continues to seamlessly reload and remain on top. I think Dabo will do the same. BV is going to be a hard replacement. He is one of the few genius DC’s.

Yes he does. But he doesn’t hire his old college pals, family, etc. He goes out and hires the best available. If they don’t cut it, they are gone.

Saban is also a former NFL defensive coordinator. If whatever big name sucks he takes the clip board and does it himself. Dabo isn't that type of coach he trusts his coordinators 100% and if it aint working out just gets another one.

The difference between Saban and Dabo…

Isn’t so much who they hire. The difference is Saban would fire his mother and his wife if he thought they were the reason they were losing.
The other thing is these former HCs know they can step in and Bama and not have to worry about rebuilding, they’re loaded with talent. So they can step in, coach, look like gurus, and then move on.

Leave with them. And he's usually not sitting there with only 14 commits in December. This may be a lost class.

It isn't the same

Saban has hired mercenaries for years. It's how he does things.
Dabo has preached stability and family, with BV as his poster child.
Dabo is nothing like Saban and there is ample reason to be concerned about things going forward. It's uncharted territory for him.
The suddenness of how this happened takes it up another level. One week ago, there was no thought of needing to replace BV.
This is going to be interesting.

Dabo had no earthly idea Lincoln Riley was leaving OU any more than the rest of us.
When the shoe dropped, we all started thinking the same thing at the same time.

Agree. Dabo has already defined his career with 10+ years of sustained success, Championships etc. He is Hall of fame regardless of what happens from here.
That being said, how he navigates this transition is going to be pivotal moment in his career. Dabo is not interested in mercenaries or those looking for a couple of years as a coordinator to jump to another head coaching job. That is Saban's model and it works for him. Dabo has a different plan. I hope he has a young defensive mind on his shortlist that can come in and recruit. Either that or we hire from within is my guess.
Considering how successful he has been you just have to put your faith in the man.

Venables was the exception. Don't you think most coordinators are hoping to become head coaches? You think that should be a disqualifier for the job?

This is a pivotal moment for Dabo and a pivotal moment for Clemson football. Will be continue to be at the to of the heap (not counting this year.) Will a new AD help keep us there and also upgrade our basketball program?

It all depends on where things go from here. Keep dominating and yes you are right. Start losing and everyone will say it was all because of Venables.
