Granted, you are right on so many fronts, but if you remember, it took a special type athlete to run that fast paced offense and the skill associated with what he wanted to run. That takes time, and sadly, he didn't have much time to get it done. That's what that profession has become, and with the money they make, there are lofty expectations. I have met Chad at a number of Spring Game events where old players come back, and he is a fine man. I wish him the best, and the great news for him is, he has left with a lot of jingle in his bank account, and Arkansas starts over, once again.

Scott Satterfield didn't have to change the whole program 1 through 85, Morris did. Petrino ran a pass happy wide open scheme whereas Morris was trying to go to that from a ground and pound roster. He was never going to accomplish that there in a year and a half especially going against Bama, LSU, Auburn, A&M and even the Mississippi schools to an extent. I think the SEC is EXTREMELY overrated but the West is not. It's one of 2 out there with Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. Anyways that is why you don't become coach hopping happy. Look what SMU is today. Morris should have never left but he was so fixated on becoming a Power 5 head coach it didn't matter where it was. He should have just stayed patient for the right opportunity for a Auburn or Mississippi school or even an FSU, VT or a NC State. I think if he would have stayed at SMU for a few more years he could have had a Power 5 job at a premier program but that's what happens when you are trying to move up the food chain as fast as you can. You're willing to take jobs normally you wouldn't have thought twice about before. He couldn't wait to leave Clemson for a head coach job and he couldn't wait to leave SMU for a higher profile head coach job and he paid the price. Now he has fan bases like South Carolina clamoring to get him. Hey Chad, stay as far away from the arm pit of South Carolina as you can. You'll regret it too if you don't.

He improved (slightly) each year he was at SMU , but that trainwreck in Fayetteville was going to take a number of years . He'd have to have recruited at about the same level he did after he got to Clemson , and that's a tough sell considering out there he's recruiting not just against LSU and Alabama , but Texas and Oklahoma ( among others ) .

I wish him luck .

It doesn't help to see his former school SMU

Nov 11, 2019, 12:28 AM

doing so well this year. I wondered how that would translate but I assumed you could justify those wins due to the kids he recruited! So he would get some credit for SMU success. But as a supposedly Offense Genius, he should have out-scored some lesser teams even if they scored a ton but he never seemed to run even a consistent offense scheme.

He is a good dude and definitely can recruit, he will be offered an OC job somewhere and he will regroup.

It's amazing how much of our success was pointed at Chad originally and now we can see success wasn't solely in his hands and adds credence to the job Dabo has done with coaching and his team. We can't expect any better people, Dabo is the cream that rises to the top!

Chad Morris was great for us. The HUNH hadn't really been done on the East Coast and it won us a lot of games. Everybody does tempo now and as for him being an offensive genius, I have two exhibits for you 1) the wheel route and 2) Cole Stout.

He fell in love with the wheel route and couldn't get past it when it wasn't working anymore. Cole had his best game when our current OCs designed a gameplan around what he could do versus what Chad wished he could do.

He is great when he's smarter than everybody else but he's not flexible enough to walk away from the stuff that people have figured out... and suddenly he isn't the smartest guy in the room anymore.

Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins will make you the smartest guy in the room.

As someone else stated on a different thread...arkansas was built for ground and pound. Bialemi(however you spell it) was a completely different coach in his approach. His recruits were built around his method(which obviously wasnt working) and he was dropped when he couldnt win with them. Morris couldnt win with them either. They didnt fit his model and he wasnt capable of adapting
