Is this the game that breaks Ryan Day...

If we win convincingly does it spiral the Ryan Day regime into a tail spin similar to Louisville, FSU, NC State and a lesser degree Notre Dame?

They all brought multiple ranked teams to the table only to be turned away and have since become irrelevant.

Are you just ignoring the fact Clemson has played more games against teams with winning records than the total amount of games An Ohio State University has played?

Yes, so many fan bases try to go with that narrative. Clemson will beat the breaks off of OSU, and we won’t hear anything out of them until next time we play them.

This is true, other than how they were cheated by the refs during the games.

The last time I looked ND has two offensive linemen who are 1st team All Americans compared to one for OSU.

WOW, I hope Ryan Day does not see that post and use that game plan against us...can we go ahead and forfeit?

Let’s look at that glass house the bucknuts live in very shortly because the glass is broken! 24-29 against really weak teams, will they be able to rise to the occasion?

I didn’t want to embarrass them but they refuse to look at the Truth period.

How did they do it! We all know their 1st game was a spring game so really 5 games against who?

Doubt it. They recruit too well to just fall off. Who in their conference would knock them off next year.

I do find it interesting that Dabo has seemingly gone out of his way to needle the Bucks this year. I think Clemson wins the game for on-field reasons, but I think Dabo has gotten into their heads so much that they're already beaten mentally.

The best thing would be for Clemson to get up 2 scores and deflate OSU to the point they start pressing.

Georgia under Mark Richt and Kirby Smart recruit very well

If are to follow the recruitment logic. They still lose 2 games per season. One in the SEC championship and one headscratcher thalves them out of the CFP.

Day is not a keader of men. He is an enabler. In my opinion.

As many in the national media have stated

[3]
Posted: Dec 24, 2020, 2:35 PM

You could really make strong case that they’re already irrelevant. They’ve had the bar lowered for them in so many ways by so many entities that when, for example, a game is called fairly as in last year’s semifinal, they are unable to accept it. They’re accustomed to getting favored treatment, so they throw tantrums when they don’t get it.

I mean come on ... everyone knows the only reason they and Notre Dame even sniffed the playoff this year is for the ratings they’ll bring. From a substantive standpoint, they really haven’t done much, hence the number eleven ranking — which is pretty generous, in actuality.

But we’ll all play along with the charade because we don’t want to acknowledge that the playoff is not about finding which team is best, most deserving, passes the eye test, should be rewarded for a good season, etc. — it’s only about generating ratings and subsequent profit for corporations. The third and fourth seeds prove that.

This is what I don’t get with some of you Clemson fans. A program that has literally been the most consistent program for the greatest length of time is irrelevant? I respect what Dabo has built at Clemson, but your program was garbage before he took over. Ohio State has been good my entire life with one bad year that I can remember. No need to disparage one great program because you root for another.

Good in your lifetime yet they fall short of playoff births. You wouldn't ve been in it this year if it wasn't for Big10 moving the goal posts. And the Committee blindly putting them in due to name only.

They’ve been to the playoffs 4 times in the CFP era with 1 title. They went to the BCS championship game 3 times and won it once, but nice try.

Your history is what got you in this year. But it counts.

Ohio St is just a place holder for ratings.
Otherwise Committee would have had two other serious choices.
Clemson vs ND for a third time in one year. Or Clemson vs Texas aTm which doesn't sound as sexy nationally.

Accept that and move along bucknut.

An unbeaten conference champion belongs in the playoff. We shall see if Ohio State belongs when we hit the field. Everything else at this point is just talk. You needled me about not making playoffs, yet don’t respond when I say that we’ve made the playoffs 4 times. The 3rd most appearances behind Clemson and Alabama. We finished in the top 5 2 other times and barely missed out.

[2]

lost to Bama by 5 points in the final. We beat Oklahoma and Baker Mayfield in the semi.

In 2016 we spanked Ohio St. 31-0 in the semi, and then beat Bama for CFP title. In 2017 we lost to Bama in the first round, Bama then beat UGa for the title.

In 2018 Clemson was undefeated, 15-0. Clemson beat ND 30-3 in the semi, and beat what was being called the "best" Bama team ever 44-16 in Santa Clara, Ca.

In 2019, we beat Ohio St, again. Oh, we also beat you guys in 2013 with Urban Meyer as your coach. I was a sophomore at Clemson when we beat Ohio State and Woody Hayes was fired after hitting our LB after a late interception. I actually met Woody earlier that afternoon in a restaurant with his wife and another coach. Woody was very nice, and asked me why I was studying Civil Engr.

I personally don't think that OSU is irrelevant or will become irrelevant but the question is not far fetched as your comment about the most consistent program for the greatest length of time. Nobody thought that Florida State would take a nose dive and they had been elite much longer than OSU. Your team and fan base seem to obsess about Clemson and odds are (according to Vegas and most on this site) that you are about to go to 0 and 5. With all of the importance that your coach and players have put on this game, it is likely to be a big blow. At some point, there will be a team in conference to challenge you. If you are so concerned about Clemson, will you be able to handle it when they do?

As for your comment about your program, you are consistently good and periodically great. You talk about this being your 4th appearance in the CFP, but do you really want to count the 31-0 year? We showed that you had no business being in the playoff, and that you were only there because of the name. I think that will be the same thing that we see this year. So 2 elite teams, out of 7 years. Somehow that isn't my definition of the greatest program in college football. Sorry.

I said the most consistent and that is an absolute fact. Every major program has had a long period of being down, with the exception of maybe Oklahoma. Ohio State has been consistently good since I can remember. Tressel took them to 3 BCS title games with 1 title and won 8 BCS games, Urban had a great run and now Ryan Day is 19-1 as coach. I didn’t say we are the greatest program of all-time, but we are definitely top 5 when you talk about historical and recent success. 2nd most wins in college football history and 8 national championships says so.

Ohio State has been good for decades (Tressel, Meyer, and now Day). We have the number 2 recruiting class in 2021 and number 1 in 2022 with multiple 5 stars committed already. One game won’t send us into mediocrity. All of the programs you mentioned have had years of being mediocre with terrible recruiting classes. In fact, no program has had a longer sustained run of success and that’s a fact. Clemson sucked before Dabo and Alabama had a long run of mediocrity before Saban came in and saved the day. Ohio State has had 1 truly bad season in the last 20 years and that was in 2011 when Luke Fickell was coaching the team.

I just hope Ohio State doesn’t end up with Dasan McCullough and Domani Jackson. I wanted McCullough very badly at Clemson, and Jackson is still up in the air but trending towards Ohio State imo

than 5 commits. Clemson currently just has 2 four stars for the 2022 class which ranks us at #14. Bama currently has 1 commits and rank #27,

Both Clemson and Bama will be in the top ten by 2022 signing day, just like every year. The one thing you do not see with Clemson is over signing. Each school only has 85 scholarships for their team, but even without redshirts UGa’s last four classes totaled 100 scholarships signed. Ohio State signed 96 over the same period. Bama signed 92 players, and Clemson signed 87 players over the same period. Close to 10 preferred walk ons signed with Clemson over the same period.

I think the coaching staff needs to utilize quick passes and emphasize running the football. I think they need to run Fields more as well. Fields has a tendency to hold the football too long. Our tackles have been very good this year, but our interior line has been underwhelming.....especially Harry Miller.

Think Fields held it for 5+ seconds a couple of times. When he threw the interception in the endzone he could have walked in. There was a fall he took where he fell forward and hit thetop of the helmet. Fields didn't seem with it after that

Yes that’s the biggest flaw in his game.....his lack of quick decision making. I honestly don’t think he’s ready for the NFL because of that. Tremendous arm talent and superior athleticism, but just too indecisive at times and too slow to read the defense.
