among the Tiger athletic department bigwigs that having a good/great basketball program will diminish our football program?
Seems we strive for roundball mediocrity.
With our facilities and fan base we could, with the right coach, be sensational over time.

Our football team has been bad in the past.
At no point has our basketball team or program been considered "sensational".

I was one of the 13,000 screaming fans that packed Littlejohn when we beat then #1 Duke. So, it has been done, just not nearly often enough!

Sorry to burst your bubble BUT
With our facilities and fanbase, we would struggle to be an elite mid-major program.
Both are remarkably "meh" and especially the fanbase. Don't kid yourself, the new digs are nice but not amazing.
The biggest cheer we got during the BB era Sweet Sixteen season at home is when we announced Kelly Bryant at the UNC Asheville game. -No joke-
We strive for roundball "mediocrity" because other basketball programs would out-right sell all four limbs to be a NC contender. Clemson won't do that because we do that for Football and have limited resources. Even the largest AD programs in the country can't really do "both" and we have a lot less resources. Just like our football program has a ACC/NC champ or bust attitude do you think we could ever compete against the UNC, Duke, Cuse, UofL, and now UVAs in BASKETBALL spending? UVA spent 130 Mil in basketball facilities back in the mid 2000s when we spent 70mil a couple years ago. You have to go "all in" and frankly, I am not willing to cut Dabo's or BV's salary to ATTEMPT to become a basketball power.

Agree. All they did with the Littlejohn renovations was put lipstick on a pig. If they were seriously, they would have bulldozed it and started from the ground up.
