Is there any doubt there's SEC bias in the media. We are the

only team with 3 wins over top 15 teams, yet most everyone says we'll have to be undefeated to get in the playoff! However, there are plenty of media folks who think Bama, UGA and Tennessee should get in with a loss!

Then there is exhibit B...USuc hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse, except Kentucky, who was playing without their quarterback, and they are now in the top 25?

the everyone you speak of isnt the CFP. I don't know if we get in or not but I trust the committee.

If we had lost 28-27 to Syracuse, do you think we would have

virtually any chance to be ranked ahead of any one loss SEC team, when the CFP ranking comes out?

Everyone (including the committee) is influenced by the polls, the potential payoff and personal bias. There is no perfect system. Enjoy the run.

True. However, I think the Committee does a better job because they actually look at the games. I doubt if many AP folks even have a chance to take much time to look at 12-15 games.

Relax. There are no rankings as of yet. All I know is if Clemson, TCU and Ohio St./Mich go undefeated and win their conf championship, all 3 are in. All 3 would have quality wins. The only remaining spot would be for a 1 loss or undefeated SEC champ. Facts.

I agree.

There is SEC bias no doubt.

Scar is getting credit for beating Texas A&M; but it seems to me FSU isn't getting much credit for beating the suddenly surging LSU Tigers. FSU has only lost to highly ranked teams!

i would love for your reasoning to be correct. but there is going to be 2 sec teams , cause i truly believe one will be undefeated and one with one loss.. im hoping Tennessee beats georgia. and go undefeated and if they lose to bama in sec champ.. it will be bama and tenn, no way in heck are they going to leave one out..
if clemson and Tcu both go undefeated, i think clemson gets in
Ohio state/Michigan winner (big ten champ) will get in
and as in many past playoffs, there are 2 sec teams.. but id love to see only one but pretty sure the committee all value the quality wins and will also use the eye test, cause they are told to put the four best teams in, so time will tell
but clemson has zero chance if they lose one. The notre dame on the road will be a stiff test. Go tigers, Hope we are ready
also these are my opinions just like yours is yours.

Well if Georgia beats Tennessee and loses to Bama

Oct 23, 2022, 4:58 PM

they are going to get in. Good chance they will have two top-10 wins at the end of the season if they do that. And the same thing applies for Tennessee if they were to lose a rematch with Bama. They would have top 10 wins over Bama and Georgia.

Now if the Tenn/UGA winner beats Bama in the SECCG, the SEC will have a much weaker case for 2 teams. Bama will essentially be eliminated at 11-2. The Tenn/UGA loser could be 11-1 with a top 10 win, which will certainly keep them in playoff contention, but they might need help elsewhere.

And I think the loser of OSU/Michigan is going to have a very weak resume because most of the B1G stinks this year. 11-1 with one decent win over Penn State isn't going to be very convincing.

I will never count a Saban coached team out of the playoffs

Oct 23, 2022, 5:33 PM

until they are dead and buried. That would be a 2nd loss somewhere prior to the SEC Championship game.

A two loss SEC Champion would put the Committee in a huge quandary. Or, maybe not. Remember, LSU won this thing back in the BCS days with two losses, so a two loss team NOT getting into the playoffs as an SEC Champion is not a foregone conclusion at all. The way Georgia and Kentucky are playing right now, it will take some of Scott Rhymer's unexpected thinning for either of THEM to wind up with two losses and still be SEC Champion.

If the third team was anybody but Bama, I don't think this conversation is even going on. But, just like us, Saban has more than enough street cred built up that the Committee will bend over backwards to put his team in, if at all possible. A team not named Bama, who has played as poorly at times as they have, with a loss, as a non-conference champion, if it turns out that way (don't see how that scenario is possible, but roll with it) would already be out of the playoff conversation. I think Bama has to get in as a one loss Champion, or not at all.

As far as Tennessee and Georgia, still many a slip, twixt cup and lip. Starting with a certain big Outdoor Cocktail Party next Saturday. And, Kentucky could really throw a toothless wrench into the whole thing for Tennessee by upsetting them. The season is starting to get even funner!

Nobody cares now. We win the final 4 and beat Carolina in Charlotte and we are in the Playoffs.

Exactly Right!

Unfortunately, you see the same thing here on tnet from people who have basically been "taught to only think of the sec and big 10 in terms of ability to play football"!

Reality is just not the same thing!

Since 2000: "only the SEC has more National Championships in football than does the ACC"! And, i'm talking current ACC teams(Miami wasn't in the ACC in 01). But, if you include Miami that's 4 by 3 different teams.

The Big 12 i.m.o would be 3rd on the list with 2 because they had two different teams win it(Oklahoma and Texas in 03 and 05).

The big 10 has won two with Ohio St(only in that time) in 02 and 14.

Yet, the conversation is always leaning toward pointing out the bad of the ACC "only"!

Plenty of bad teams in other conferences as well! Plenty!

That tweet was perfect!

Yes brother the sky is blue

It’s very obvious, but the only way to shut them up for a off season is to win out. I reveled in the beat down we gave Bama. Not because I hate Bama , but because it made all those fools wrong.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!

but Bama looked so good in their loss.***

Let's be honest. 5th is a generous ranking at the moment.
