Is it just me, or do we have a disproportionate number of injuries this year

Honestly, I've wondered if maybe the intensity of practice wears the team down.
Sort of like the saying "make practice tougher than gamedays"...is it possible these kids are just being worn down?
Unless someone has some information, it's a crapshoot.
It could just honestly be one of those years where we have been hit by the perfect storm of injury bugs

When our defense plays 3/4 of the game this happens. And on offense I can’t imagine the practice being to intense for a squad who puts up 24 points a game IN THE ACC. ABYSMAL

Last year was a struggle as well with some key players. This is a 2 year issue at this point.

I don't know how to explain it, and it probably doesn't not make sense, but I think there is a correlation between injuries and poor play. Confident teams that are playing well just don't seem to get the injury bug like we have gotten. Others may think that we are playing poorly because of the injuries and disrupting our continuity (if we ever had any). I think the Coots had the same problems with injuries Muschamp's last two years ...... and they were indeed playing poorly.

more snaps than years past with the closeness of games. We avoided getting beat up before as we routed so many teams and played a ton of people.
No consistency in types of injuries. We've had knees, shoulders, feet, biceps, broken bones, groins, hammies, concussions. Just some bad luck and the wear and tear of a grueling season

I replied to this question a week ago. I think we didn't practice with intensity under the Covid rules all last year. The spring started in a similar type of mode. Then we had the summer that had limited workouts in small groups due to Covid. Then when it seemed to open, we are still one of the fee schools that test everybody weekly and I think we got soft over the basically last 2 seasons. When you have this many injured, you are not training properly. Look how many injuries we had today against a much lesser rated team athleticism wise anyway. I just feel we lost our edge after LSU game, we got caught in Covid, then we had BLM rallies. I think our focus got distracted.
I have felt all year our guys don't look nearly as toned as other teams. We have little definition in arms, all the offense are carrying bellies except for like Parks. There are a few players that look like they are in shape like: Skalski, Booth, Murphy, Parks, Mafah, Shipley, Ajou but I noticed a belly on him today. I think we got lazy and soft hence the injuries and being bullied. I was looking at NCST today and they are way more muscled up on average. Then watching Bama, LSU, and even Wake today, just looks like they are more toned than we are.
This is my guess, and I could be wrong but I have been wondering the same for couple weeks now.

When you have a poor season people get "injured" more and don't play thru it.
Remember boulware playing with one arm? When you're winning and have things to play for you stick it out. Otherwise you sit on the sidelines and don't risk yourself.

If you knock the guy in front of you down you aren't as likely to get hurt. We aren't doing that on offense and the defense is playing too many snaps. I know, it is not quite that simple but it does have bearing.

You are correct that the defense is on the field to much and Skalski shouldn't have seen the field in the second half.

He has some health issues. Not sure exactly how long he’s been out. Can’t help but think that this may have something to do with the increase in injuries.
Then as others have mentioned obviously when players have to play more plays in a game they’re more likely to get hurt. And when you’re pressing you are more likely to be injured. Played a lot of basketball growing up. I had a few injuries and usually it was when I was trying to guard someone that was stronger and/or faster than I was. This team is just not physically superior to its opponents the way previous teams have been.

Those that follow football understand that once in a while a program has a season where injuries are much more common than other years. It is not related to anything other than random happenstance

I thought that we had more injuries last year than years past and it got worse this year. In my mind I blamed it on COVID and the lack of Spring conditioning. I don't think that would be the case this year. Regardless, I agree that it goes beyond just bad luck.
After getting pushed around by better teams the last couple of years, I wonder if there has been more of a push with strength training, while deemphasizing flexibility. I don't think that anybody is really at fault, but hopefully, hindsight can highlight some changes to be made.

We are about on par with Maryland that season, about 8 years ago, when they played us with their 5th string Quarterback, who was really a Linebacker.

Maybe the little darlings were pampered and coddled so much during Covid year that they became addicted to the attention? Who knows? Something changed. That is undeniable. You don't go from being bullet proof to soft as butter in one year unless you changed something in the off season. Maybe the NIL checks are so big they are causing cramps and muscle pulls??
