Is DJ Afraid to Pull The Ball and Run?

Go watch again. On a number of plays the end crashes in and DJ hands the ball off. What is worse is he doesn't even fake he has the ball well he just jogs out a few yards.

He definitely doesn’t exude grit, and that’s a problem. I know he’s a smooth, unflappable personality and all, but we and the coaches and his teammates and the world need to see intention and grit when he tucks the ball. He needs to stop apologizing for hesitations in advance.

I doubt it is fear. More likely is just total lack of that skill set. He really is a Pro style QB on the order of Ben Worthlessburger, with similar running skills.

I have a feeling he isn't able to read the defense to know what the right play really is. Not saying he needs to be right every time, but man there were some that he should have read the end and kept it. Did he play an RPO offense in high school (real question, not sure his experience with it)?
