Is coach Venables happy at Clemson or

do you guys get a sense he isnt? Just curious. It just seems as though he is more matter of fact with the media in interviews and I was wondering if mauybe he really doesnt care for the interviews or maybe he is kinda had a rough time here? Not causing issues, just curious. I think he is a decent coach and I'd like to see him hang around for a bit.
Also... what kind of contract does he have here? is there a buyout?

I really don't have your answer but his salary increased by about $400,000 per year coming to our little town. He should be smiling ear to ear.

I believe he's unhappy with the talent level he's working with right now and the lack of aggressiveness. When he gets some of his handpicked guys he may have a different dimeanor.

You are the first to post this which is funny because this was brought up to me a couple of weeks ago. He wants to be a Head Coach which is no secret but I have never heard why he is unhappy.

Not trying to stir up a hornets nest but how easy is it to work for Swinney ? I remember early on he dabbled in the play calling of his OC and DC's. I haven't heard anything sense but it makes you wonder why everyone seems so desperate to leave all of a sudden.

And who is desperate to leave? Cheese stood an outstanding chance of getting fired if he didn't leave. A good OC or DC will get offers probably every year. Neither have left yet.

OK...maybe not desperate. It still looked like everyone was leaving ship though and that can't look good for long term stability.

If others don't want what you have. Then just maybe what you have ain't worth having. When other teams try to hire your coaches away. That say's they must be doing a good job for you.

Yep. BV didnt want to kick the field goal and have a chance to miss it, and leave the defense with a short field.

He wants a championship caliber defense, and ours isn't even close to having the speed, athleticism, toughness, strength, depth and abilities needed to be considered to be elite. When we get there, he will like it better.

Perfect answer. He came from OK probably thinking the caliber of player was similar. It was a shock to see how bad our defense was and still is. With time and the right personnel, I think he can turn out a decent product.

Thanks. Agreed! It has been a pure shame that we lost our status as LB University with a long time without the studs at LB we used to boast. I'm ready for the return of a smothering defense, and I hope BV can get us there.

But any DC whose d gave up the yards and points we did is not going to be happy. When we have a game again a good opponent when we shut them down, think you'll see a happy BV,

both professionally and personally. It's sort of like an all-out, gung-ho approach that many people have which despises mediocrity and failure and relishes great successes. You can see it in his demeanor and eyes on the sidelines. I would suggest any unhappiness in such a person is due to failures of things under his control and not necessarily with the job itself. Ever notice him when our defense performs well? Or poorly? Frankly, I like the intensity and believe eventually, we'll find success under his tutelage.

I've wondered the same thing. It struck me as odd when he said he felt alone before the 1st game. This made me think he doesn't feel like part of the family. That vibe has stuck with me. I don't think he feels like this is really his defense yet for a number of reasons and until he does, he won't have the vibe that he bleeds orange. I'm not saying he's not all in, but I am saying that Clemson probably still doesn't feel like home.

I think he is frustrated with all the talent that he has and the performance that he is getting. To me he has the look that he has got a lot of work to do. Not to mention that when he is coaching, sometimes he looks like he should be in a cage. But I love the intensity.

I certainly have no way of knowing the state of his happiness at Clemson, but I have seen no indication of his being unhappy.
I think he is a very bright, no nonsense, strictly business kind of guy who gets impatient and irritated with the inane nature of many of the questions he is asked. Many in the media feel obligated to ask questions, and when they can't think of an intelligent one ... they ask a stupid one.
