Interesting trend on TigerNet you might have noticed.

It’s become okay to blast sports programs at Clemson - basketball, baseball, etc. Coaches can be berated and called names. Players can be criticized. No problem.
But not football. No, don’t dare question the program, the coaches, or the players. It’s off limits!
And if anyone does dare question or complain, they are not true fans. They are haters who will not be tolerated.
It’s totally predictable, to the point that it’s almost funny now. Start looking for it, and it will be obvious to you too.
Ultimately, we all want what’s best for our teams, especially our favorites. Your favorite is probably football, and mine happens to be basketball. That should be okay.
I tolerate loads of criticism of my favorite team, and you should likewise be able to tolerate criticism of your favorite team. That should also be okay.
The only haters here are Coots, and they are easy to spot. And they suck.
Go Tigers!

Berating any of our programs, players or coaches

Is unacceptable in my opinion. I have no tolerance for it. The bored trash isn’t really the problem so much as actual Clemson fans that can’t control their emotions long enough to realize how stupid they sound.

What did I say that doesn’t go against EVERY poster that has ever said something on this bored as I described???
Go look into my history and find one negative thing that I have ever said therein or where I agree with any poster, including JK, that has bashed a player, coach or program.
Your silence will be deafening.

Well, CBB has broken rule #1 at least twice in the last 4 years. The asst coach(Smith) talking sh¡+ about the football program, while being recorded, that may as well have come straight from CBB. Makes me wonder how many times he's spoken I'll of the football program in private. FOIA his e-mails, texts, hard drive home & office.

I am going to preface my statement with this: I am a Clemson graduate, as is my wife, dad, brother, son, and in May, my daughter. Our family roots are tied to Clemson going back to 1906. I pull for everything Clemson, and sometimes I do criticize what I watch, including Football. But......as a previous Basketball season ticket holder for many years I will say this....Brownell fields the most unimaginative, boring basketball I have ever seen; even comparing with our really horrible years. The ACC was much better then, and some of those teams are much better than what we have now. I have grown tired of watching our team ###### defeat from the jaws of victory, and quite frankly, it has nothing to do with Brownell as a person. I want much more from Clemson Basketball, and I have supported it with money for many years.

I 100% agree with your post. Judge I appreciate your love of basketball. However, it does get tiring knowing that every year we are the Gamecocks of football in basketball. I don't see the fascination with Brownell. Every year we lose games that are unexplainable. Poor coaching accounts for many of them.

I 100% agree with this post’s sentiment.
It’s unfair to call a single poster out and even against the rules to defame them. But I actually enjoy Tiger BB less because of these type posts. That’s crazy, but true.
Tiger BB vs Tiger FB doesn’t have to be like today’s politics and social media …..so bitterly divisive…and a contest on who can out troll the other.
So back into the somewhat jokey mode: Can’t we just all get along?

Two facts:
1) If you post factual, realistic things, there's no "bashing". What you post is crap.
2) You do more harm than good for the support of our basketball program.

Judge, right or wrong, it seems to me, at times, that your criticism of the football program is to "get back" at those who criticize the basketball program. Also, are we not comparing apples and oranges here? Basketball has been traditionally a mediocre program at Clemson, and even the most fervent fans will have to agree that it has remained mediocre even under Brownell - whether it is due to his coaching ability, or lack of it, or other factors is debatable. Clemson's football program has a much better tradition historically but we were languishing in mediocrity for many years before Dabo Swinney took over. Everyone knows what happened after that. To be critical of Dabo or the football program at times is understandable, but if someone cannot say one good thing about the current football program or Dabo, then it show bias. Just my two cents; I am too smart to start a debate with you as I would be completely out of my league!

The trend I find most interesting as of late is the increasing recognition in the TNet community that your brand of trolling isn’t good for any aspect of Clemson athletics.
Looks like with each flailing attempt behind the keyboard you’re more likely to be weighed, measured, and found wanting.

I'm just an outsider.
And, I admit that I seldom pay attention to the name of the poster. I just read the post, most of the time without even looking at the poster.
But, I recall numerous posts criticizing Dabo and the coaching staff throughout the season for things including, but not limited to, play calling - continuing to play DJ instead of giving TP a chance.
I recall several posts calling for Dabo to go outside the program and not promoting from within. And, criticizing him after he did.
I recall at least few posts declaring that Dabo's stubborness and refusal to use the portal was the death of the program. I recall people saying that Dabo was totally unprepared for the NIL.
And, I recall several replies in the threads supporting the original post.
Fans gonna complain. Fans gonna gripe. Fans gonna get upset. It is true at every school. Clemson is no different.

Huge difference. Has the basketball team won 7 ACC Championships, been to the Final Four 6 straight years, played in 4 title games and won 2 National Championships beating the best team in the country the past 15 years the last decade? I didn't think so. Matter of fact it's such a huge difference that you are acting the way you are after an injury plagued year, a QB that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and the transfer portal upending college football and the football team still went 9-3. Nobody says you can't be critical but at least no what you are talking about. The ppl you complaining about don't know anything about either so all you're doing is ticking the football fans off who do.

I don’t care what sport it is coaches and players should be criticized or called out using personal attacks. IMO it’s not good sportsmanship criticizing coaches or players going after them personally. Especially the player’s. These are kids.
When we go after our own player’s and coach’s it only hurts the program and the recruiting.

I reject your premise, is about success, not sport.
Dec 22, 2021, 8:01 PM
|
|
First, I never like players named, no matter the sport. Aka, like a post of yours regarding some football players earlier this year. Second, I don’t believe for a second, it is SPORT related. What it is - is success related. When you win the supreme award twice and in the top 4 six straight years and have the possibility of winning 10 games on your “off” year - then it is pretty evident that the coaches have a clue and there is very little that posters can contribute to the sports improvement. Aka, football, golf, soccer. When programs are not successful - and there is not success at a high level on the immediate horizon- then posters share their positive and negative ideas for improvement. Aka, basketball, baseball.
So, I reject your premise about it being sport driven, and accept that it is success related.

I am a newbie, as Judge has pointed out on other threads. Yet - I do not share his observations. What I see in this post specifically is one who has a crease in their panties and wants to sit back and incessantly throw bombs at the university’s most successful program, and one of the country’s most successful! I see one who literally looks for the negative…who wakes each day looking to be a complainer and then gets his little feelings hurt and champions “can’t we all just get along” when others call out his favorite sport, even with their lack of comparable success. So….my take on this thread; grow a pair or walk your talk.

coaches and players since the Georgia game. The same posters have also been aggressively attacking the posters who defend the program. Many weeks this season the detractors far outnumbered the defenders. Therefore your opening premise and every subsequent word isn’t just false, it is a deliberate lie.
You’ve spent years cultivating a false narrative around our basketball program and a handful of low information fans flock vigorously to your defense. Now that you sense vulnerability in our football program you are attempting to establish a false narrative about it. You are not a Clemson fan and your sole mission, whatever the underlying motives, is to do harm to Clemson’s athletic programs.

Athletics.
I don’t hate on our BBall team, but at some point they need to win championships! Even soccer has been able to do that. ??
And look, I have been highly critical of the football team for the this year’s unnecessary debacle of a year. We fans criticize when things are seemingly off track or not being done to the Best is the Standard.

Quite honestly, it's just a handful of people who
Dec 22, 2021, 8:37 PM

personally attack anyone who says anything the least bit critical of the football team no matter how true it may be.
I think we all know who those posters are and they don't want a discussion, but only groupthink (and their version of it).
Fortunately, 90% of the posters here aren't like that. So I don't think it's a trend as much as those few who feel somehow entitled on Tnet responding at a feverish pace to attack people which is quite pathetic if you ask me.
And, I think the average fan is pretty disappointed with basketball too. I know I am. I was pulling for Brownell because I met him and I think he's a pretty good guy. Do I think he ever turns this thing around? Not sure. I like you Judge but that's my honest opinion.
