Interesting that SC has had 3 NC winning coaches, with 2 of

them being fired due to losing too many games..particularly to CLEMSON...(Dietzel from LSU & Holtz from ND)...while it took Spur several years to get it going.

(* I know some of you don't like to talk about the Coots on this site, but one has to know his enemy..and they surely are..and they will be even more in person come Nov 24th in the real DV).

The honey pot for luring all three of these accomplished coaches was big $money payouts I believe..to get their program up to par (with Clemson for sure instate).

In the meantime Clemson took the alternate route of hiring lessor known and less successful coaches..at far lessor salaries (IMO).

So, with that in mind I wonder if some of you smart record keepers on TigerNet would add up all the wins & losses the TiGERs & Coots have had since Paul Dietzl was hired...up to Saturday's games...and report back as to how these two very different hiring scenarios worked out win/loss wise..and maybe even money wise.

What say you?

No way to figure out cost per win when it's been very obvious that there has always been huge amounts of money from Coot U and their boosters going to the recruits, their families, the media, governing agencies, etc., that simply can't be accounted for...and adding up salaries alone would not even come close to estimating the expenditure that their Athletic Dept. has spent playing catch-up to Clemson.

Hey Guys..isn't there a way to figure wins/losses of 2 teams

Oct 14, 2012, 6:49 PM

from the first game Paul Dietzel coached til now...to see who's won the most games...knowing they probably spent more per win.

Come on!!!

playing in a conference that everybody agrees is a joke while we play in the toughest conference in the country.

USC needs an annual trophy that says....

.."plays in the toughest conference". Otherwise, USC not getting a lot of SEC hardware....

Please explain the 26 years you were not in the sec

Oct 14, 2012, 7:51 PM [ in reply to so you win 1.4 more games per year ]

If you ever won the sec, which we both know will never happen, your sec story would sound better. Clemson has won as many SEC football championships as you have in those 20 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good point....and for those years that we beat UGA and USC..

Oct 14, 2012, 7:56 PM

..can't we at least claim an SEC divisional championship in that scenario?
