Interesting that 2-reporters have called out an “escalation clause” in the new B1G contract.

Aug 22, 2022, 4:53 PM

Reported by Brett McMurphy, Action Network-

“The Power Five conference’s distribution agreement includes an escalation clause that could net the Big Ten nearly $10 billion over the term of the seven-year deal if it expands beyond 16 teams.”

Clearly aspirations of expansion has been engineered into the deal the B1G just inked, hence another flurry of speculation about others joining them.

It would be foolhardy to think the SEC isn’t including such a clause to encompass TX-OK AND any future expansion candidates. This will be an interesting ‘devil in the details’ when the SEC finalizes their impending media deal.

I read that this clause may involve espn. If the B1G gets a few more west coast teams, they could then sell a 10:30 eastern game package. This would account for the higher numbers

Its a "when" not "if" situation, i think that abundantly obvious***
