Interesting Exercise SEC and ACC

A friend pulled this one on me over the weekend.
Take the Clemson Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks out of the equation.
Choose 1 game from each weekend to attend this fall.
It must be a conference game and it must be between 2 teams of either the ACC or SEC..which games are you attending ???
I also did not consider Notre Dame since they do not play a full conference schedule.........Looking at the best conference games each week
Sept 5 SEC None Qualifies ACC None Qualifies
Sept 12 LSU at Miss State Syracuse and Wake SEC
Sept 19 Ole Miss at Bama then hightail it to LSU at Auburn FSU at Boston SEC
Sept 26 Florida at Tennessee Duke and Ga Tech SEC
Oct 3 Alabama at Georgia Louisville and NC State SEC
Oct 10 Georgia at Tennessee FSU and Miami I choose Miami and FSU here....one for the ACC
Oct 17 Florida at LSU or Texas AM at Alabama Lousiville at FSU or Va Tech at Miami 4 good games and the best looking weekend all seasons but still....SEC
Oct 24 Tennessee at Alabama FSU at Ga Tech SEC
Oct 31 LSU at Alabama or Florida and Georgia Miami at Duke SEC
Nov 7 Auburn at Texas AM or Miss St at Alabama Virginia and Miami Sigh.....SEC
Nov 14 Georgia at Auburn NC State and FSU SEC
Nov 21 LSU at Ole Miss Ga Tech at Miami Almost a toss but still SEC (worse weekend of the year)
Nov 28 Alabama at Auburn Duke and UNC (football not basketball) Please......
So over 12 weeks of the regular season where both teams play conference games. I am at a Southeastern Conference game 11 times and only 1 ACC game. And I am trying to do double headers to cover 2 SEC games on a single weekend multiple occasions.
That answers alot of questions regarding the issues between the conferences.

Are the words Bama and SEC interchangeable?
Bama vs Green Bay Packers would be NFL game of the week per espn.

This seems like an exercise for TV football fans. Why would a Clemson fan EVER choose to watch a game played by any ACC or any SEC team in lieu of going to and watching a Clemson football game?
On our open date, the Saturday following our Thursday night game, I'll watch the GT/Duke game. That'll give me some insight on GT and the game will go a long way in determining who we play in the ACC title game.
If I get to watch another game on that, or any other Saturday, I'd hope to choose the best available game, not necessarily an ACC or an SEC game. Most of the teams in the SEC and ACC will not make it to the college football playoffs. I'd want to watch a game that mattered to me....Big 12, Pac 12, Big 10, or whatever in lieu of the set up your friend suggested.

so... take the BEST team out of the ACC and then try to
Aug 12, 2015, 1:13 AM
|
|
find an otherwise good match-up...
take out the team that both Top 20 teams FSU and Ga Tech point to every year...
take out the team that UNC's Swofford went so far as to literally make up a new rule to keep them out of the conference championship an extra year...
take out the team that has the loudest stadium and the best gameday experience of any school in the ACC....
take out one of the two schools with the most ACC Championships ever....
take out the school with 10+ wins over each of the last 4 years...
what an absolute moron.

So...we take the team picked to finish #1 in the ACC out of the equation, against probably the ninth or tenth best SEC team, and do the math from there? And just for fun, you excluded Notre Dame...who is ranked Top-10 in the country per most polls.
That takes out Clemson-at-Louisville, Notre Dame-at-Clemson, FSU-at-Clemson, Georgia Tech-at-Clemson. Well done. Great logic. Whereas eliminating South Carolina costs you absolutely nothing in terms of must-see matchups.
Also...sorry, the SEC is largely being driven by the SEC West right now. The East has been a train wreck, featuring bad football teams like Tennessee, Florida, and more recently, South Carolina, that used to be good football teams. Kentucky and Vandy have never been football powers. Georgia should be a superpower and occasionally play like it but they also annually drop a couple games a year they shouldn't, and a very ordinary Mizzou has been winning the East mostly because nobody else seems to want to...and Mizzou was never more than middle-of-the-pack in the old Big 12.
And how good was the SEC West really, last year? Ole Miss and Mississippi State got huge ratings boosts, playing embarassing OOC schedules and then grabbing some early wins against teams that historically had been powers, but OM and MSU were revealed as pretenders down the stretch. Auburn, Texas A&M, and LSU were certainly not superpowers last year and even Alabama was revealed as being Not That Great In The End. Arkansas was reasonably tough and increasingly resembles, well, Wisconsin...not surprising considering who's now coaching them. The West is certainly a tough, tough division to gain and keep momentum in, but is there a real superpower in the bunch anymore?
The SEC was great and had some powerful dynasties that won a boatload of national titles, but I don't see a true national title contender this year.

Are you going for the quality of the football or the gameday

experience?
SEC has more big stadiums and great tailgating and everything that accompanies college football. i.e. Fans=fun football games.
But the quality of the football is not that different. SEC>ACC by a little bit. (don't let that 4-0 November from last year fool you, the SEC is a little bit better)
And I must concur with my cohorts about removing Clemson from the equation. It moots the argument. Clemson at Louisville, GT at Clemson, or FSU at Clemson is better football than any SEC-East team (sans Uga) vs anybody.

Any game involving Miss St, I don't want to watch, they will suck, so you can take all those off your "list"
Florida at LSU? Nope. Rather see Louisville and FSU or VT/Miami
UT at Bama? Won't be a game. Just because UT beats y'all ever year doesn't make them good. Nope. Rather watch FSU and GT
Sorry little Cootie. You can keep waving that SEC flag, but everybody's going to keep laughing at you

Wait! You take the top team projected in the ACC and a bottom feeder from the SEC out of the equation and expect any type of validity to your exercise? Take Bama or Auburn out of the equation, add Clemson and Notre Dame back in, and see how that plays out for you!
Also, there are NO GAMES this year that anyone would want to watch where the ##### are involved, even the Clemson-Carolina game as you will be irrelevant before mid-season!
COOTS! YOU CAN'T HELP STUPID!

The fact you guys are complaining about removing one team from the ACC highlights the problem your conference faces.

The fact that you guys are excluding your team and lifting up your conference highlights the problem your team faces.

I'm glad your questions have been answered. So have mine as it is now obvious you are dumber than your scar friend. Even with pulling clemson your bias is showing in picking games like florida and tenn. 10 years ago maybe but duke and gt would clean up against those two.

I would have picked the ACC game each week. Why? Won't support a TV network or give my TV rating to a network or conference that doesn't make Clemson better. ACC ratings go up-tv contract value goes up. Simple enough.

Take out a top ACC team and a bottom-feeder SEC team? Please. At least make an equal exclusion for the SEC and try again.
OR ... better yet ...
Try it with SoCon teams and SEC teams, and let me know how that turns out for you.

If you take out Clemson from the ACC (the best team) then you need to remove Alabama or another comparable SEC squad.
Also, this is mostly personal preference. And it is obvious that you are an SEC kool aid lover.
You indicate that you would rather see TN get waxed by Bama over watching FSU play GT in ATL. Dead giveaway of your true colors (garnet and black).
Enjoy your 11th place rings this year.

Most Clemson fans are Clemson fans period-- We're not ACC fans. We don't love the ACC and we don't need to ride conference coat-tails.
The Atlantic Coast Conference needs us, not the other way around.
Maybe at other schools they need to find an identity in the schools they play (and lose to) each year.
We're Clemson we don't need to do that.
