I spent a good amount of time scouting UGA last night

Jul 7, 2021, 6:27 AM

One thing that stands out to me about their defense is that they do not know how to wrap up, or are not being coached to do so. To make matters worse, their guys are either too slow or too soft to be effective against our skill players and they are prone to making horse-collar tackles.. I attached a classic example of Georgia's defense when they have lined up against elite talent in the past.

When you combine UGA's inability to tackle with everything else - superstar Clemson receivers, superhuman Clemson QB, greatest D-line ever, seems UGA has no chance. I hope Dabo doesn't hang a hundred on Kirby.

I may not even watch.

Maybe my meter is broken, but I'm not detecting any sarcasm in this thread so far. Couple of good analytical posts. I congratulate the bulldog for rare insight.

and I am very nervous about it, to be honest. Won't hurt me any if you don't feel like watching though ;).

Re: I spent a good amount of time scouting UGA last night

Jul 7, 2021, 7:56 AM

That’s not a fair assessment. I remember Georgia had a lot of “injuries” during any drive that lasted more than 3 plays. Actually It seems #5 broke his ankle and dislocated his shoulder on the missed tackle.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You may have a valid point but

Jul 7, 2021, 8:05 AM

This video is from a Mark Richt team, not Kirby Smart.

Championship magnet ??

Jul 7, 2021, 8:46 AM

Ole Kirby is bringing in the Benjamin’s but they aren’t bringing championships....

He’s the recruiting king every year so it just depends on your teams goals.

Minus Sec & natty’s he’s a great at recruiting & it pays well.

I noticed the same thing when they destroyed Nicholls State by 2 several years back.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was there

Jul 7, 2021, 9:48 AM

I went with a friend, huge Georgia guy. It was Kirby Smarts FIRST game as head coach in Athens.

I've never been more afraid at a football game in my life (& I've been to LSU at night).

The fans were legitimately terrifying as Nichols State was winning at the half. I'll never forget it. We nearly lost to Troy here in Death Valley just a few years ago but I was never afraid like I was in Athens that day.

Wait a second - you made it out of the second rate death valley- "during a night game?" I will have to buy you a beer one day- I live in Louisiana an avoid that place like the plague.

Re: I was there

Jul 8, 2021, 9:52 AM

I've been to dozens of stadiums for football games.

The only one I'll never go back to is LSU.

I love Louisiana, especially New Orleans. But Baton Rouge is different, & LSU's gameday environment feels straight out of a 1985 Motley Crue bender, from the drugs & fighting to the screaming & nudity. It just feels like things could go dangerously wrong at any second. I'm no saint, but the debauchery at LSU stands alone.

Plus it smells like microwaved fish.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Interesting.

Jul 7, 2021, 9:13 AM

I watched this game last night and came away with the same conclusion about Clemson

That year was probably Richts best coaching job. If Kirby pushes all the right buttons, I can see another trip to the Belk Bowl . Going 1-1 in Charlotte this year would be something to build on

GSCtiger®, that guy was aight too. I’d still take Etienne over ZW. Gotta sneaky feeling Spiller makes a huge impact this year on our backfield.

But would you take Lyn-J over Zeus and Cook? Those were the guys our respective teams signed in the class of 2018 and the ones that will be available to play this year.

You know as much about our run game as Kirby does about winning.

Re: Interesting.

Jul 8, 2021, 10:15 AM [ in reply to Re: Interesting. ]

You were thinking about this one. So many UGA RB's have had success against Clemson's soft run defense, it's hard to keep them straight.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Interesting.

Jul 8, 2021, 11:58 AM

Agreed. With such a one dimensional offense, it’s hard to keep up with that one player they recycle year after year, yet produce nothing.
