Incoming football freshman enrollees...who are you most excited to see...

Jan 24, 2021, 12:56 PM

Who’s your sleeper pick?

Mine...

- Most excited to see - Will Shipley - Possibly an obvious choice ..there’s a lot of hype for this kid..I’m excited to see if he measures up.. I expect our OL to be much improved and I’m excited to see how our staff utilizes his skill set ...he won’t be the starter but he will play..

- Sleeper pick - Beaux Collins ..hard to call a 4 star a sleeper ..but all our early enrollees are 4 stars... Collins should arrive on campus with immediate chemistry with DJU as they are HS teammates...he’s a bigger WR...:should be a nice option in the red zone as he develops...nice that he’s an early enrollee..

I’m bored and I don’t want to discuss our basketball program..

Ended up with two offensive players ..

I’ll pick two defensive players later...

I think that Carter, Collins and Shipley all will play early.

Phil Mafah

He’s an intriguing prospect.

I wonder what the projection is on healing time for his injury.

I’m hoping he will be fully recovered, but I don’t know the answer to that. I never saw an update after he was injured.

Mafah for me as well. First 225 pound back we've had since Raymond Pteister. But a totally different kind of runner than Preister.

Carter for obvious reasons and then Mukuba because of how porous our safety play was this past season. Linthicum is another one for the same reason. We desperately need an anchor in the middle to shore up our interior OL.

I'm going with Beaux Collins since he played HS football with DJ.

I saw a couple of his high school games on tv and he is the real deal.

Probably Shipley for me.

I’d like to see Clemson with a sledgehammer RB.

Good post ...

Basing my picks on areas of need and my perception of who could be ready to help in rotation by mid season.

Offense: Like your picks. 1) B. Collins, WR 2) T. Leigh, OL 3) W. Shipley, RB

Defense: 1) B. Carter, S 2) Andrew Mukuba, S/DB 3) N. Wiggins, CB (needs to gain weight)

Wild Cards -

Offense: T. Stellato, Slot where Shipley could also factor.

Defense: P. Page. A big strong young man. Can be used in rotation at DT. Also, if Bresee needs to help out at DE like CW42 did his jr year, then Page reps could increase. Will he be in shape?

Sleeper pick in going to go with Bubba Chandler. I think he can really make a push for the No 2 role as a freshman. It will be good to see Coach Street develop him. I think he’s our starter when DJU leaves.

If you’re looking for a strong between the tackles back ...it’s probably Mafah and not Shipley ...although they’re both strong ...
I hope Mafah recovers well from his injury ...he should be fun to watch as well...

Defense

Excited to see - Nathaniel Wiggins... long and athletic... he could even play WR or a little safety ... we’ve got lots of talent at corner already but no one has locked down (pun intended) a spot on 1st and 2nd team...

Sleeper - Peyton Page ...again hard to call a 4 star a sleeper ..but we’ve got some d-line depth...big strong kid ..I’ve seen scouts compare him to DJ Reader...
