The death knell for the ACC will be....

May 15, 2012, 2:41 PM

when they take one of the remaining big east schools that does not even have a bcs football team. ALL will know that the ACC has given up on football then and will be focusing on basketball product for their future revenue stream.

It could happen....wanna stay around and wait to see from the inside or be standing on the outside pointing and laughing? Just look at the Big Least if you don't think it can happen. Just ask yourself, who is the ACC currently poaching FROM and WHY?

When the Big East folds we'll become the cellar dwellers.***

In the past, the ACC has refuse partial membership

May 15, 2012, 4:36 PM

In the late '70s Duke explored leaving in FB, only to be told that they could not do it and remain as a member in other sports. As a result, the Blue Devils essentially stopped trying in football.

Not going to happen, FSU and Clemson will pick the next 2 teams allowed in, and it will be for football not bball.

Not that I believe the premise, but, who would FSU and Clemson pick to join the conference??

ND, Penn St., USF, UL, picks are slim

Right about that ... pickins are SLIM.

HUGE drop between ND/PSU and Louisville/USF.

I just don't see Lousville and USF bringing much other than one more basketball power. They don't excite me.

I cannot imagine why Penn State would leave the Big 10.

ND is the big catch. The ACC would just have to make sure an offer is more attractive than one that may be tendered by the Big 10.

With what $$$$ is the ACC going to pull that off?***

Also if we are going to create an unbalanced monster like

May 15, 2012, 5:13 PM [ in reply to Re: In the past, the ACC has refuse partial membership ]

that in the ACC (where $$$ still won't significantly change), why not just go to the big 12 and deal with Texas? At least then we would KNOW that football is king and that $$$ will be coming in.

PSU...what a joke...the picks ARE slim...***

Well, that was when the ACC was in a situation of having

leverage, that leverage is now gone. Their hand will be forced.

If adding ND and PSU is the best scenario...The Death Knell

has already been delivered...But it aired at noon, so no-one watched it...
