My Five Impact Clemson Players

Feb 6, 2014, 11:46 AM

1. Watson
2. Yeargin
3. Scott
4. Rogers
5. Choice

In terms of impact next year I would disagree

Yeargin needs weight before he cracks the 2 deep of the DL. Choice needs to learn the system and what he needs to do as a RB, he played option QB in HS so he was never asked to block for a QB or move out for a swing pass, etc.

Scot and Rogers definitely will contribute imo. Watson I'm not sure about just because of the numbers and talent in front of him.

I think we could have as many as 3 of the 4 WR avoid a RS and contribute. I could see Rogers contribute as could Milan Richards

I agree... Yeargin needs to put on weight if he is going to play DE and a RS may be in store.

I also think Watson will RS as too unless injuries occur to where he is needed. Other than that, I think Stoudt and Kelly are completely capable of leading us to victories this year.

I think Register will make an impact on Special Teams and possibly see sometime at DE or maybe at LB.

Lastly, I think 3 of 4 WR's on campus already will make an impact...

With FSU having Winston and the 5 star guys they just added, (through recruiting) I think it's in Clemson & Watson's best interest to red shirt him this year.

Stoudt & Kelly have earned the opportunity to play QB for Clemson in the work/time they've put in any way IMO.

YES!! Someone gets it! I've been saying that on this board lately and everyone wants Watson to come in and win the starting job from day 1! I agree 100%... A RS year will do him plenty of good and just take a look at the past 2 Heisman winners, they both RS'ed and then won the Heisman! Watson needs to RS since we have capable QB's on the depth chart

I agree that red shirting is ideal but in the end you need to put the best player on the field. If Watson is the best player coming out of fall camp he will play, if not he will likely red shirt. Watson has a long way to go to start but for a high school kid, he is very polished and ran a system that is very similar to Clemson's for 4 years. I would guess that Watson will keep the race close and may even start. If he red shirts thats great great too!

And I agree w you 100% - If he is the best QB we have after summer practice, then he by all means should start, but I dont see that happenening and think that he should RS.
