In regulation, the defense gives up 14 or below…

Oct 16, 2021, 10:02 AM

Every time out.
That’s pretty incredible with the injuries and how much they are on the field.
The teams they are holding to lower scores are certainly scoring points on other weeks.
Props to Coach V and the defense for getting it done consistently.
I don’t think our offense is going to put up any 40 spots this year….
BUT if they can find a way to break the 20-24 point barrier, here on out, we’ll have a shot at winning those games. Otherwise, I’m not sure that we can do ‘17-14’ every week…eventually someone is going to find more points against us.
I’m an optimist…I think we can run the ball pretty well and maybe improve just slightly enough in the passing game to give Potter more opportunities (he’s automatic) and cross that 20 point barrier.
I hope they make Pitt the favorite next week. Been a long time since we were an underdog in a conference game….would be interested to see the psychological effect of that.

The problem is that it was Syracuse - let that sink in Syracuse. I really can't get a handle on the offensive woes. Just mind-boggling.

Yes, we're not talkin Georgia or Ohio State or even UNC.....we're talkin Syracuse.....not a top 20 team, we're talkin Syracuse (in an Allen Iverson "practice" rant)

UGA's offense only scored 3 points on Clemson in game one.

UGA's only TD was a pick six on a pass from DJ. UGA is averaging 40 points a game in the big bad SEC, but UGA only scored 10 points on Clemson.

Well, we lost to Syracuse in 2017, and after Trevor went

down in 2018 we had a late comeback with Chase Brice winning the game for us. Oh, that was also the first 15-0 team to ever win the CFP.

Syracuse gave up 40 at home last week to Wake Forest. Tiger offense got two touchdowns, one on a drive full of SU penalties, the other on a drive where Will Spiers threw the best pass a CU quarterback has thrown all year.

It is also incredible when you consider how much the D is on the field due to multiple and nearly endless 3 and outs on the offensive side of the ball

We only had one 3 and out last night in 11 total possessions.

We better score more than 20 next week or we are going to lose. Pitt can put up some points. We have not played an offense with much of a pulse this year, yet.

What is obvious, is the adjustments during the game on the defensive side of the ball.

I completely agree. For those voting me down because I quote the actual statistics of the offense, the defense is playing very well. Fully healthy, it's a top 5 squad with the best DC in the game. Venables has adjusted to some of the best players being injured by creating a bend, don't break gameplan, which is why we're still a top 5 scoring defense despite being around #25 in total defense. I do worry about elite offenses like Pitt, since we play so much in our own territory (which is heavily a fault of the offense having 12,000 three and outs each game).
