You can get a lobster Roll, a draft IPA, and a deli pickle for $9 at most of the downtown bars. I drank way too much when I lived there.

And I think I've had at least 1 lobster roll everyday.
Nice people too. Seem less like typical (stereotypical) Northeasterners and more like small city folks. Nice town.

It was also really charming in the winter when we had 3 feet of snow that had frozen solid and I had to dig out my parking spot after a long day of work. But people help each other out, the community is really close, and you are always the first person in line at the DMV. I would not move back, but those were some really fun memories.

Have driven through Portsmouth quite a number of times, and even stayed one night in lodging at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
There is a small cemetery in Portsmouth that I have visited several times, the Point of Graves Burial Ground, that contains a still readable headstone that was placed in the year 1684. Amazing. Love the history that is available to enjoy in New England.
