I'm waiting for someone to call out Brownell for his rebounding schemes

Mar 19, 2021, 11:50 PM

As a former basketball player I'm sick of watching nobody attack the glass for an offensive board or put back. I hope everyone saw tonight how much of a difference that makes as Rutgers had their way with offensive rebounds and put backs left and right. To me that was the difference in the game. It should never come down to a travel call. Clemson got out coached . For the tigers to ever get over the hump, they need an offensive aggressive coach. Right now they have the opposite. A defensive aggressive coach. Take a look at the teams in the top 25 and tell me how many average 60 or less. Zero. Clemson averages 60 or less. My point made.

I watched 10 games this season and saw about 10 lay-ups.

Mar 19, 2021, 11:51 PM

We made about 5 of those.

Wait is your point they don’t score enough or offensive rebounding philosophy?

You said both, lol.

"Gamecocks aren’t ready to take college football by storm just yet. They’re not even ready to compete in their own state – Clemson will still own the territory. Gamecocks fans would be smart to keep their heads buried until that time. Avoid talking trash to a much better Clemson program.” -Dustin Tackett

Boxing out your man was optional tonight.

I'm waiting for someone to call out Brownell on how a basketball team gets beat by a bunch of "THUGS".

As plain as day. The untrained eye could see how completely obvious it was that our guys don’t attack the offensive boards.

That’s on Brad Brownell. Let him go coach Newberry or Presbyterian with that garbage. I’m sick of seeing him on the Clemson sideline.

Why would they hire him***

You'd think for a team that shoots as bad as us, rebounding

Mar 19, 2021, 11:55 PM

would be a big focus!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Scheme: someone shoot all others get back on defense

Mar 19, 2021, 11:57 PM

Brownell never has guys stay and try to rebound-always have all 4 turn and start getting back on defense. We had 10 offensive rebounds entire game.

hint-recruit a real big man

How many offensive boards did Rutgers have?***

Rutgers had 13, we had 10

Mar 20, 2021, 12:05 AM

I think the difference was there were a lot of funky bounces where Rutgers got a rebound and they were standing under the basket alone. So, uncovered rebounds, Rutgers 3-4, Clemson 0.

As a former Coach, I am appalled. And I have posted about it numerous times and did so tonight. It's terrible and it is a philosophy, because the same thing is done over and over, by the players. So it is what is taught . and it's bad.

I never coached, but played organized basketball. Brownell’s offensive scheme does not work, but he never changes. That’s why I can’t stand him. You don’t need Uber-talented players for them To box out, crash the boards, rebound, rotate to the open man, and score in transition. All Brownell seems to be able to coach is how to set-up in the half-court. It’s crazy

Mar 20, 2021, 12:26 PM
