Did anyone see the poll that the majority of college coaches think NIL is destroying college football? I ran across it the other day embedded in another news story and can't find it now. Basic opinion is the NIL is a chit show and is only going to get worse if the NCAA does not act fast to rein it in.

Without coaches who recruits these kids and keeps a program running? Kids can’t just show up to a gym and a pracrice field and learn plays on their own. You think they learn technique and blocking and route running on their own? Naw. They might show up to a game and put a product on a field but who coordinates all that beforehand? Your only thinking about and giving credit for what you see with your eyes, your forgetting everything you don’t see and what goes on behind the scenes.

I think we agree it's a two way street. The players certainly benefit from getting to play college football. The issue with your logic to me is you seem to have no problem with the coaches earning millions in this situation while not giving the players a salary in return. They do get an education and there is huge value in that, but if the experience is simply about players getting an education then wouldn't the coaches be earning a more modest salary comparable to the university professors?

Yep, many people in real estate have made millions doing that too!
The players got the platform(via the school) and were coached to better technique by the coach(s)(Dabo) so let's not act like it was just them existing that caused it to happen. W/O the school having a team and getting insurance on them and training for them and nutrition for them and a bunch of other stuff - what do they have?
And, I am one that thinks they should be compensated(to a degree).

The players did not make them millionaires. It takes far more than just players. Its the same b.s. the employees pat themselves on their back with claiming the a company's success was their doing while they took zero risks and no losses.

I think the universities and coaches want to help the players, but the way this was first brought out it was not supposed to be used as a recruiting tool. I just cannot figure out how the higher ups did not see this coming. It’s almost like they wanted to wreck college football and I’m not sure how it will get fixed.

I honestly think that's why the prior setup involved zero allowance towards players earning money for NIL. In a perfect world a player would be able to get paid a few hundred bucks to go sign a few autographs at a local business if the business owner felt doing so would benefit their business.
Unfortunately, there's no way to allow that type of free enterprise without it turning into "if you sign with this school then I can promise you X amount to sign autographs or whatever." Ironically, the people throwing millions towards recruits right now are the same people the previous rules of not allowing any sort of payments were made for in the first place.

Payed their dues. They've played the game, gone to college and gotten degrees. The have put in the long hours for many years and worked their way up to coordinators or head coaches. A high school kid just staring college or still getting their education plus all the perks that a student athletes gets. It's just not the same comparing a college kid to someone that has put in many years and earned their way up the ladder.

People who are against players getting paid for their product...ask yourself this ?...if your daughter/son was 16 years old and starred in a movie that made billions in one year...you, as their guardian, would you be okay with the film studio saying to them that they will pay them with a free education at the university of their choice including meals and room and board??? Would you allow that to happen to your child??? Now what if your child was an adult of the ages 18-22 ... would you advise them that the film studio paying for their college education would be fair compensation when they are the star of the movie Amd it made billions and everyone else involved with the movie was making millions??? Yeah...I think you wouldn't be okay with either situation...the problem is the greed of the presidents, universities, conferences, tv and athletic departments...they simply don't want to share their revenue with the starrs of the show...so in genius fashion they are allowing the general public to pay the movie stars while they keep all of the profits!!! It's pure genius on their part!!!

That would be what I told my child-
I think a free education is worth more than anything in the world.
Your looks will fade, your voice will change, or havens to Betsy- you say the wrong thing in public and everybody abandons you. What do you have to fall back on? Money will not last you long.
I also taught my kids to think independently, seek advice and make your own decision.
