“Clemson USED tight ends”

Watching the spring game for UVA and the announcer just emphasized our use of TEs and that’s because TE coaches them…. What?

I was flipping by and happened to hear that. I don’t think they’ve watched us since ‘16 w/Leggett with that comment.

Was thinking the exact same thing, and I literally just put it on there for a quick stop before getting to the baseball game and that was the first thing I heard… kind of chuckled

We haven’t used the TE as a significant part of our offense since Jordan in 2016. For anyone to say we USE them as a focal point is a joke and shows they don’t watch our games, or read the box score.

Feels like it’s been a known thing for years, did you convert from being a coot in 2022?

Again, our TEs had 37 catches last year.

in a down offensive year, and 50 the year before. For reference Alabama had less than 50 last year. There's only one football and about 6 guys that can carry it or catch it on any given play. We've had one of the best offenses in the P5 for most of the CFP era. Who would you like to take the ball from, and how would we have won more games during the Elliott era (as the best OC in the country during the CFP era) if we would forced the TE more?? You're making entirely too much of this. Sometimes you actually have to look at things relatively and for yourself instead of reading a message board.

37 catches by TEs last year. Not too bad in a low offensive output season.

We have recruited the TE position

Very well, tons of talent and no excuse not to have top tier production out of the position. JB is a stud and the highest rated TE we’ve ever had… we need to use him.

I’m really excited for our short yardage with the qb

Lining up under center. I think that whole “use the middle of the field “ plan will include more TE dump offs. Let’s get food at moving the chains and impose our will on a defense.

I think we went under center exactly zero times in the spring game. IIRC. I don't think i saw any two back sets either.

We only had 1 of our 3 scholarship RBs available and the team divided. Hard to do 2 back sets with guys that have never repped it

Sure we had some players out but they were out all spring. Whomever was left had however many practice days and time to study the playbook. so i don't totally buy injuries as some kind of reason.
If we didn't see two backs or QB under center at all in the spring game, then I don't expect either to be a integral part of the offense. Sure maybe a few select plays here or there, but that's about it.

we’ve used the tightends almost every play. but only as extra blockers because our line has been so turrible.
