I've noticed on here this past week that there are people talking a lot of trash over schools deciding not to anticipate in the bowl games this season. I'm really not understanding why it's upsetting to some when a schools makes "their choice" to opt out.

Why is that such a bad thing when a school opts out of a bowl game. All schools should opt out of bowl games bc, when it's all said and done, most schools that do go through the weeks/days/hours of putting everything together to make those trips all over the country for a 3 hour sporting event. And when it's all over, these schools find that their cost was thousands $$$$ more than what they were paid to go play in those games.

Product companies sponsoring these bowl games are filling their pockets with profits, and it's the schools sporting events that got the people in front of the TV with all those product names pasted all over the stadiums, along with all the TV commercials, it actually cost the schools big bucks $$$$, to make big bucks for all those product companies.

Schools get the TV money, the team gets the extra 15days of practice and this is when the scout team gets integrated into the overall practice. Then the players get cash and big bags a swag, often get nice watches, Xboxes, clothes and or clothes shopping. Sometimes this is the last chance for seniors to get noticed before the NFL combine. The players get another ring to add to their collection.

The bowl money is added to the EOY conference budget therefore all conference schools make more money. The conference often offsets any travel cost losses the school may have incurred so no loss to the school.

And don't forget, there are fans that actually like going to bowl games and use the game as a vacation. You don't think there are a lot of people in Iowa that will cherish the chance to see their team play in sunny Florida in the middle of winter?

Obviously anyone that says schools should cancel and not go to bowls obviously hasn't looked at the big picture. I'm pretty sure Skalski would 100% disagree with you.
