Why is everyone so offended by what Spur-lid said?

Apr 5, 2013, 12:46 AM

I actually find it kinda funny. He talks about how he doesn't worry about us, but he can't stop talking about us.

I'm really tired of his act...

Apr 5, 2013, 1:02 AM

He sounds like a little kid that didn't get his way. He needs to stop talking and coach. Nobody really wants to hear what he has to say. And after the snide remarks he made when coach Swinney was supportive of Marcus Lattimore, the less he says the better.

LOL YEAH RIGHT. He is the one coach that everyone does want to hear what he has to say. LMAO

to go on without stomping a mud hole in his team. That aspect is on Clemson. If we'd beat him regularly he'd look like thew putz he is if he didn't shut up

Carolina fans hated spurrier and his barbs while at Florida

Apr 5, 2013, 8:42 AM

when he made these type comments. But now that he is at usuc, they love it. such hypocrites, and small minded goobers

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm more amused by it, whatever he says isn't offensive to..

Apr 5, 2013, 1:10 AM

me. His rants just show how pathetic he is. He has been a successful head coach that is worshiped by the media, yet he pouts like a 3 year old child most of the time. He is a very unpleasant person. I feel sorry for his so called family or friends.

Each time he mention's Clemson, just shows he knows his window has closed at SCU. He is seeing us out recruit him, and starting to recruit on a national level, even though we have lost to SCU the past 4 years. He is jealous that the college football world loves our offense. He is jealous that the only way to get good players at SCU is to go after character issue players. While at Clemson we can recruit talent and good character. He has watched SCU have their 2 best seasons ever, and he has seen empty seats at Billy Brice and fans leaving early over those 2 seasons also. His rants are more about his anger at himself for choosing a place to coach that cannot win conference or national titles.

I'm tired of this "we only recruit guys with great character and everyone else only recruits character issue guys. From what i have read guys dylan thompson and marcus lattimore seem to be guys with great character. Clemson has had situaions with towel rods and weed before. How bout drop the orange glasses and post something with logic.

This is so terribly off base I dont even know where to start.

From what can you deduce that he is jealous of Clemsons offense? He railed on the fact last year that you all averaged something like 90+ plays a game but when he played ya'll, Clemson could only muster ~60 plays. Why would he be jealous of that? I can understand not liking the guy, but making stuff up for your own amusement is just... I dont know... Sad.

He just stated today about how happy he is in Columbia and our great state of South Carolina. Last year, he even stated that he'd "stick around a year or two" in Columbia and also keep a condo during his retirement. Compared to Dabo, I wouldn't call any of Spurriers one-liners that he's famous for "rants". Spurrier wouldn't be here if he didn't think he could compete for titles.

Spurrier is a #### with ears, please don't pay him any attention, I know I don't!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not. I've followed his career since my days at CU

Apr 5, 2013, 5:53 AM

during which he won the Heisman and subsequently, since his time at Duke. Most of what he says are his attempts at humor, which some find funny, some droll, still others offensive. I will say this: I think his and Dabo's verbal sparring has been great for the rivalry.

Whether you like him or not, Spurrier will long be regarded as one of the greatest coaches of the game, and he has managed to bring a new level of excitement and hope among the SC family toward their program. In fact his success along with Dabo's IMO has been good for our state and has a large number of top recruits considering both schools. I'm not overtly concerned about his recent success over Clemson, as I don't believe it will be sustainable; however, I do know this: Dabo and Co. will again face come November one of the wiliest, shrewdest masters of the game...and they better master their own game of poker lest there be a God-awful five-peat...something that I feel certain Dabo clearly understands.

All I know is that Dabo really offended SCar grads with his

Apr 5, 2013, 7:55 AM

long rant. Pretty much all of my SCar buddies lost respect for Dabo after all of that went down. They can't let go of it. I told them he was joking around, but they really took it as a huge slap in the face to their university that they love.

I think Spurrier's the same way. He's not gonna let up until we shut him up.

I, for one, don't care what any of them say and would actually prefer Dabo continuing to blast their university. But, the main thing I'd like to see is a win.

I'm not offended by what Spurrier says

Apr 5, 2013, 8:14 AM

I'm offended by the existence of Spurrier himself, but that's a tangent...

Spurrier strikes me as a deeply insecure man. When it comes right down to it he's not much more than your average back-row heckler, trying to make himself feel good by putting down others. My 8-year old has more emotional maturity than Steve Spurrier does, so in that respect I view everything Spurrier as if a 7-year old is saying it. And my reaction is just like I react to 7-year old stupidity: I nod and say "okay" and then go back to what I was doing. Unfortunately you can't put Spurrier in time-out when he's not using the manners his mama hopefully taught him as a child.

I don't get it at all, either...

Apr 5, 2013, 9:19 AM

Dabo and the fans that get worked up just look stupid. 99% of what comes out of Spurrier's mouth are innocent jabs, nothing offensive, and sometimes kind of funny. It's a rivalry and it's a game-- that's all. I could understand if he was being rude or truly offensive, but he's not. It's pretty innocent stuff.
