But getting caught up in one forner players career as opposed to a current CLEMSON team is not a real fan of Clemson. I apprciate what he has done and is doing and wish him well but Clemson ( in all sports ) is more important than one guy.

For added affect, I close my eyes at the moment I push it, then open them to the wonderment of another event occurring simultaneously with the one I was watching only a fraction of a second earlier.

They say that they want us to be good, but that our coach hasn’t made us good enough or interesting enough or entertaining enough. They say that’s why they don’t show more of an interest.
Well, we are off to our best ACC start in our program’s history. We are ranked in the top 25, which hasn’t happened much at Clemson in our history. We have some excellent players who have diverse skill sets.
If a Clemson fan can’t get excited about this team, at this point in the season, they truly don’t care very much. I wish they would just admit it.

I think most Clemson fans only care about football and maybe baseball. I care about them all but basketball is deff 1b and football 1a with baseball not too far behind. Lots of folks in the south could care less about basketball and just say they want Clemson to win.

this year - 13 years in the making to be at the top of the ACC mid-season. It's been a painful drought under Brownell for excitement and success, so to try and spin this season otherwise is simply the troll in you.
Not every Clemson fan is a fan of or cares much about every sport. That's nature. Those aren't the ones posting on here prior about their frustrations with Brownell's lackluster career and underachievement, because they just don't care. There's nothing for anyone there to admit. For the basketball fans among us (and there are admittedly less than there were 10+ years ago) - we're squeezing every moment out of it.
What is obvious to many though is what's been shared about Brad's supposed lack of support - field an attractive product and more folks will turn out. It's great that Brad is delivering on that end and helping draw more interest.

Clemson beat the defending ACC champion for the second time to maintain its first place standing. Clemson was favored by 1 and won by 1. At midway in the season, Clemson will have sole possession of first place or be tied with Virginia. There is still a tough road ahead.
Our long investment and patience with our basketball program seems to be paying off. Prospects for next year are good. The team needs our 110% support.

I know of a couple good ones.
1. We have an average national finish in the mid-70's during Brad's tenure.
2. Brad is the 38th highest paid coach in America, and in conjunction with point 1, he's led us to TWO top 40 finishes in 12 seasons. That's COMPLETELY unacceptable, especially considering the salary.
3. We've been to a play-in game with Purnells players and actually won one game. That's not technically a tournament win since it was in fact a play-in game that gave us the opportunity to get into the tournament field. We promptly lost. We've been to another tournament where Gabe DeVoe and the guards got hot. Sweet 16 finish and great season. Two tournament wins. We made the tournament one other time and failed in the 1st round. That's TWO (true) tournament wins in 12 years, both in one season.
These facts totally destroy your little cherry-picked Stat.
You cannot be serious, Mrs. Brownell.

The "problem" hasn't been not caring or a fan "mentality". You're getting things mixed up. Fans show up when the product is decent, and thats being proven out as it has for the entire history of Clemson basketball. The "mentality" has been shaped by the poor product. Improve the product, and the fans will embrace the program. That's being proven out every game, yet you're still singing the oft-disproven trolling tune.
Here are the facts leading into this season:
1. We have an average national finish in the mid-70's during Brad's tenure.
2. Brad is the 38th highest paid coach in America, and in conjunction with point 1, he's led us to TWO top 40 finishes in 12 seasons. That's COMPLETELY unacceptable, especially considering the salary.
3. We've been to a play-in game with Purnells players and actually won one game. That's not technically a tournament win since it was in fact a play-in game that gave us the opportunity to get into the tournament field. We promptly lost. We've been to another tournament where Gabe DeVoe and the guards got hot. Sweet 16 finish and great season. Two tournament wins. We made the tournament one other time and failed in the 1st round. That's TWO (true) tournament wins in 12 years, both in one season.
That's what has caused the mentality, obviously. It's nice to see the product is finally meeting the salary. We're all hoping it's not fool's gold.

season (ACCT & NCAA), and not lose key personnel to the portal this offseason, you can bet that fan turnout would be that much better even early season next year.
Some folks trying to spin 1 game over .500 and higher middle of the league pack as 'winning' are fooling only themselves. Actual winning, with an exciting team mentality we see underway this year, clearly delivers more support and enthusiasm around the program. I'm happy for Brad that he is able to enjoy that for a change.
Hopefully Brad can deliver strong late, then maintain momentum heading into next season. Imagine what delivering two consecutive successful seasons could do for him and the program? For now, I'm thrilled with seeing us have a chance at just one of those.

NFL playoff game, with one of our greatest Quarterbacks to ever play, with the season on the line against a greater opponent trying to continue their Cinderella story. > Regular season basketball game that doesn't end the season.
Pot stirring like this is why most of TNET treats some of you "die-hard" Basketball fans like you're gnats. Learn some common sense and quit twisting things to fit your ideologies.

Why not both? We took my wife’s stepmom out for an early dinner in Athens GA Saturday so I watched as much of the first half of the Jags game on the tv at the restaurant as I could. On the ride home my wife was watching the score for the jags game and Roy me up to speed (yea - she’s a keeper). By the time we got home the Jags game had just ended and it was about 7:30. I had recorded the Clemson B-ball game and watched it when I got home. Just had to stay off TNET and ESPN until after I watched the game.

Basketball sucks.
Without enforced double dribble and travel rules enforced, there is no real reason to watch.
Might as well just let them run up and down the court holding the ball in to hands.
Add in how subjective the refs call have gotten and is barely a sport

I started going to the games when I had to stand in the bleachers in the scalding hot Fike Field House. Maybe the team wasn't great but you were close to the action. Fast forward to the following 25 years at Littlejohn. Almost no TV games. Great coaches, characters, and generational talent that normally didn't do the one and done. M Jordan, Ralph Sampson, David Thompson, Len Bias, Phil Ford, Tree Rollins, Skip Wise, Christian Laetttner, Tim Duncan (a little later), Horace Grant, Charlie Scott, Len Elmore, Mark Price, etc. The list is endless. Sorry, but the game has changed and it's not near as exciting. The fundamentals of the game are completely watered down and at times it can be painful to watch.
And then there was the intense rivalry with the greatest coach in the history of the State. That would be Frank McGuire. Tremendous teams and and a sense of arrogance which whipped Tiger fans into a frenzy. No forgetting the armed escorts surrounding McGuire as he was pelted with ice cubes and trash as he exited the court. The John sold out and the isles filled for every SC game - incredible atmosphere.
Todays games are a huge bore. The game has changed and it was not for the better. I went to all the games before conference expansion in the 70's an 80's and a bit into the 90's. Rather rearrange my sock drawer than watch the modern day version of most ACC games.
