I'm fully convinced, and you can say I have orange colored glasses on

Dec 20, 2017, 8:23 PM

That each kid we do not get does not fit at Clemson. Dabo has a culture that you get or do not get, period. Those kids we do not go after, we do not want....those who go elsewhere, we did not need. We are not perfect but I would bet the farm that those who sign with the Georgia's and the others are kids that have some "me" or some other issues. I know we cannot get every one but something im my instinct tells me that the ones we lose are not Clemson kids anyway.

I can go with that. Makes sense. Rather them not come than to get here and have issues like the falls ol last year that blew up after bc game.

I can't remember the recruit but there was one that was

Dec 20, 2017, 8:34 PM

interviewed by TNet that said how the current players were telling him how Clemson isn't for everybody, and it's not. You have to put out the same amount of effort off the field as on the field.

NO FARMERS NO FOOD

Dabo said this morning ____________

Dec 20, 2017, 8:41 PM

He does not lose a minutes sleep over the ones, that don't come to Clemson - he wants the kids that believe in his system & ""want to come to Clemson" and be part of the dream/vision - I for one will sleep good tonight too !!!

This is probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read on tnet. Congrats.

I mean, wow.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I might be dumb

Dec 20, 2017, 8:49 PM

But i remember a time in the early 2000's when three kids from my son's HS visited Clemson and signed elsewhere....I knew all of their parents....they all told me that several Tiger players told them not to come there, dont trust coaches, there was a grimy vibe there, etc....say what u want, Dabo has built a culture at Clemson and loses no sleep. Dealing with 18 to 22 year olds is a headache but i will take the kids we get over any in the nation. Im no bible thumper either, but I believe in our culture totally, compared to most other places.

Re: I might be dumb

Dec 20, 2017, 8:53 PM

Ok. All that is great. But that’s not what your op was about. You said the only reason kids aren’t coming to clemson was because they are me people and have flawed characters. That is just flat out idiotic.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I said "me" or other issues

Dec 20, 2017, 8:59 PM

Whatever, man. Got it. We live in the culture of extremes. Sorry I wasted anyones time with an observation on TNet. Wow. Idiotic? Really? I GUARANTEE you, after teaching HS for 3 years, some of these kids want no part of what accountability Clemson FB stands for. I know for a fact our culture sagged under Bowden and West. Thank God Dabo brought his mindset and standards in.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I said "me" or other issues

Dec 20, 2017, 9:03 PM

Or they just want to go somewhere else and are great kids?? My point is how the #### would you know anything about these kids “issues”? I don’t give a chit how long you taught school, what you said was pure idiocy. No way around it.

I agree with his comments 100%!

Maybe you are the idiot???

I have to think Dabo wouldn’t be recruiting them if he thought they weren’t good kids

He is just saying that your OP is f'd up. Your basically said if a kid doesn't come to Clemson that there is something wrong with them like they are bad kids or something. We all want the kids that are all in but just because a kid picks UGA or another school over us does not mean they have issues. They may like the campus better, they may connect with a coach better, they may see a path to PT that they didn't at Clemson. I understand what you are trying to say though. We want the all in ones and not every 5 star is a better fit at Clemson than a 3 star.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Didn't Herbie basically say that Dabo told him

Dec 20, 2017, 8:56 PM [ in reply to Re: I'm fully convinced, and you can say I have orange colored glasses on ]

and Davis the same thing while broadcasting one of our games this year ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Didn't Herbie basically say that Dabo told him

Dec 20, 2017, 9:05 PM

Yup. But someone not fitting the clemson culture doesn’t mean they have issues or a me attitude. It’s just like joining the army or marines. Just because you don’t fit that culture doesn’t mean you’re a flawed person.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I'm fully convinced, and you can say I have orange colored glasses on

Dec 20, 2017, 8:50 PM

We'll certainly be fine with what we got, and it's not the end of the world when a recruit chooses another school. However, it's pretty unfair to say the ones who choose other schools have a "me" attitude or whatever. I love Clemson as much as anyone, but someone can choose to go somewhere else and still be an awesome person with great character who happens to be a great teammate.

I just hate seeing posts saying things like that, or accusing other schools of cheating whenever we miss out on a recruit. Clemson isn't for everyone, and other schools have their own share of great things to offer as well. That doesn't mean something shady happened, or that someone has poor character.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why do people have to live in extremes?

Dec 20, 2017, 8:55 PM

I never said poor character and only said "me" issue because it is huge in todays society. Kids that do not fit at Clemson we do not want, thats it. Thats all i said. Just used one example. After teaching HS for 3 years, Im familiar with the age group. Ill go back in my hole now, wow.

Re: Why do people have to live in extremes?

Dec 20, 2017, 8:59 PM

You literally said...

“ We are not perfect but I would bet the farm that those who sign with the Georgia's and the the others are kids that have some "me" or some other issues.”

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"Me" or other issues....

Dec 20, 2017, 9:04 PM

Like no buy in to our culture. Whatever, man, you win. Got it. If you think that many other schools have similar culture to Clemson you are a fool. We are rare, man. Rare. Talk to HS coaches, players getting recruited, parents. Around nation. Clemson is a very unique sell, trust me.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: "Me" or other issues....

Dec 20, 2017, 9:10 PM

I completely agree clemson has a rare culture. But just because a kid goes elsewhere doesn’t mean he doesn’t fit the clemson culture.

So if Cade Mayes committed today, does that mean he doesn’t have a me attitude or other issues? Dabo would have taken him with open arms, meaning dabo thought he fit the clemson culture. But since he choose Georgia he’s all of the sudden a me player with other issues?? GTFO. Ridiculous.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes and no.

Dec 20, 2017, 9:02 PM

Obviously If they chose somewhere else they are not Clemson people.

BUT

Its absurd to think that they aren't qualitt people that can fit our culture bc they went somewhere else. Some people want to be closer to home, or want to try somwthing different. Raekwon McMillian was a stud, good dude, loved Clemson, went to Oh St to expand his horizons. Nothing wrong with that. I appreciate the ones we get and wish the best, genuinely, to the ones we don't.

My OP got way blown out of proportion. Im not an English major

Dec 20, 2017, 9:17 PM

Or creative writer....wow. im not criticizing kids here vindictively. I have taught HS for 3 years, its a different time than when I grew up. Im not religious at all but I believe in accountability and selflessness. Ive followed our program for over 40 years and know some former players personally. I know of the issues we had before Dabo and know of what he has instilled. Read Wilkins', Farrell's, and Cain's quotes about going pro. Georgia has three arrested and they are IN playoff. Look at how many Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, etc, kids get in trouble in NFL. Seriously? A certain type of kid is attracted to Clemson. Are they perfect? NO. Cain, Sammy, etc, paid price. They are kids...however, its something bigger being taught at Clemson and its not idiotic to say that some kids are turned off by it.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'll be more succint; there are plenty of kids that fit that we don't get.

Dec 20, 2017, 9:53 PM

There are lots of kids that are selfless and accountable, kids that are genuine and don't get in trouble that just don't choose Clemson and not bc of the standards Dabo has set.

They just pick another place.

I love our program and culture. I am proud of our guys being winners and winning games too. Heck, you and I can both gush about our love of everything Clemson right now. I just don't care for the idea of a player not beong worth, good enough, etc.. because they chose another path.

No offense meant toward you.. same team ;)

LOL not every kid wants to come to Clemson and if they don't it doesn't mean they are bad.
You live in a fantasy world and need to get over yourself.
Yes to us there is nothing better than Clemson but for most of the people in this world that's not true .

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are correct

Re: I'm fully convinced, and you can say I have orange colored glasses on

Dec 20, 2017, 9:30 PM

We’re taiking about 17/18yr old kids folks. They come in all levels of maturity, more in what I saw from K.J. Henry today. Wow!

The ones that don’t come here aren’t “bad”. They may not know what they truly want or what they truely need. In some cases they do, and that may be different than what Clemson offers.

Coming to Clemson or not doesn’t mean they won’t be exceptional elsewhere and in life.

I do believe that all things being equal, a young man that signs to play for Clemson will get every opportunity to perform and excel on the field. That’s where a lot of commonality with many programs ends.

In Dabo’s program, they’ll also be held to the expectation of performing off the field both scholastically and as a person. That last part is really the secret sauce of what Dabo’s built and what draws exceptional young men to it.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thank you for saying what I tried to say

Dec 20, 2017, 9:41 PM

A lot eloquently than I did. I never meant to imply that they are bad kids but i GUARANTEE you some have a "me" thing and others have other reasons, got it. My point is that what Dabo demands reasonates with many folks who come from a certain mindset. Ones that dont want that, go elsewhere. Thats it.
