They need a splash hire. Simply hiring a good football coach isn’t going to be enough for them to turn things around.

Since his latest embarrassment I haven't heard much news of him.

It was so bad he has to come back and coach again. His ego is too big not too. I can’t imagine him letting that be his last impression as a coach. After Saturday I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple teams contacted him. Notre dame was probably the first!

Bronco probably is out of coaching for good.

Followed UVa football closely during his tenure (because kids) and while he is by all accounts a great human being and ambassador for the school, his game day coaching was pretty pedestrian.
I think he is ready for a different phase in life and has the bankroll to do it.

Dan Mullen seems to be a low character guy and doesn’t seem real sharp. Bronco Mendenhall hmmmm. Never considered-he would fit Nebraska. Urban Meyer couldn’t do it.

He's not going to Nebraska. He would have to play his beloved Buckeyes. Nebraska will never win at the level Urban wants to be at.

Well I'm not sure anyone respects Urban Meyer as an elite coach anymore. I hope Nebraska doesn't fall even further as a program by chasing after Urban Meyer. Man, I can't believe how far Urban Meyer has fallen. Of course, I can say the same thing about Nebraska. Maybe they do deserve each other at this point!

Marcus Freeman might be available soon. Or even Brian Kelly for that matter. Take your pick.

I don't think Urban will want to go to a place...

where they will fire you 3 games into the season. That'd be quicker than the symptoms of whatever causes him to retire can show up.

Yea they fired him 3 games in, but it’s has been a disaster since he has been there. Losing to ga southern at home should get you fired. Good call by the AD. If frost was retained I don’t see how they sell another ticket for a home game the rest of the season. Now people will buy tickets just out of hope for the future.

I work with 2 Nebraska Alum; first I’ve know. Just getting to know them, I find that their values are not too dissimilar from ours in how they want the program to be perceived (e.g. NOT “win at all costs”). Thats just two drops in a bucket, but first-hand data. And maybe their storied program influences Trev that way. But I don’t see them going this direction.
