It's a Clemson game. That's my excuse. I'll be there.

Acceptable excuses for me, personally, include:

1) Death - If I'm dead, I won't be at the game.
2) Severe injury - If I'm immobile in a hospital, and the docs won't let me go....I would probably miss a game.
3) Family Death or Severe Injury - Might keep me away if it's a bad injury that requires a family member be hospitalized. 50-50 on this one. Would have to be a parent, spouse, or child. No in-laws, cousins, or uncles.
4) Natural Disaster - Meteor strike, mega tsunami, ebola outbreak, hurricane, etc. These would probably cause the game to be cancelled anyway.

Unacceptable excuses:
1) Blizzard. Football is played in the snow. I have snow shoes and a 4x4 and chains.
2) Common illness - Again, the illness would have to render me immobile and/or unconscious. No cold, flu, etc. can keep me away.
3) Weddings. If I have a close friend or family member stupid enough to schedule a wedding on the same weekend as a Clemson home game, they obviously don't care about my presence.
4) Oversleeping. Does not happen. I have 4 alarm clocks that are battery powered. One sounds off as a nuclear siren. Not an excuse.
5) Wreck. Again, see severe injury note above. Unless I am rendered unconscious, immobile, or dead, I will be there. I've totaled a car on the way to a Clemson game. Called a cab and left my wrecked car in a ditch to make a game. Not an excuse, unless you're airlifted to a hospital.
6) Cost. Not a factor. Sleep in the car if the hotel is too expensive. If you can't afford a ticket, donate blood, #####, or a kidney and buy a friggin ticket.
7) Weather. Humans have been around for over a million years without air conditioning. If it's hot, you sweat. If it's cold, you wear a lot of clothes. If it rains, you get wet. If it snows, you find a buddy with a 4x4 or you steal one.
8) It's on TV. Eff off! You're not a fan. Stay home.
9) My kid has a soccer game. Don't let your kid play soccer. If he's playing in the World Cup final game for the US or for Olympic Gold, text him a note of encouragement and remind him he chose a stupid sport.
