Yep. Learned a long time ago to enjoy the good games but don’t expect much. We admitted in the early 80s that we went to basketball games to watch the other teams. Saw Ralph Sampson, Len Bias and the NC team that had Jordan, Worthy, and Perkins on it.

The only time I saw him was at a Citadel basketball camp in either 77 or 78. He broke the backboard on a dunk during an exhibition game. We were sitting courtside and one of my HS teammates got a piece of the glass. This was way before anyone heard of Darryl Dawkins.

I’ve raised my expectations many times over 30 years
My expectations don’t change this program
And this program is not defined by Brownell
The idea that this is about MY expectations is comical
I’m not on the BOT and I’m not some big iptay donor
I’m a grad
And what I’ve seen this year is no different than what I saw from Shyatt, Purnell, or Barnes
Some did better than others, but it’s really been the same thing since forever
The team didn’t lose bc my expectations
This program being historically mediocre is not an excuse for tonight
It’s a reality

Why do you think we continue to be a crap program? We settle for this garbage. And Purnell's teams were NOTHING like Brownell's. I went to every game and if you think 3 NCAA Tournament teams in 3 years is the same as 3 in 13 years then you just aren't very educated.

His teams were fun to watch, but our athletes couldn’t beat other teams well coached basketball players
And if OP thought his team and program were in such good shape, why run out in the middle of the night to go to a crappy DePaul team?
You may have ENJOYED OP better than BB, just like I enjoyed Barnes, but in big picture the results are the same.
Detach your personal and emotional experience and you’ll see it.
