I’m proud of this Tiger team and the entire coaching staff despite the results. Personally, I still believe in this group.

I believe the answer to the question in this post is about recruiting and the right selection of our transfer portal players each year. I love the grit of Collins and Bohannon but also believe we must find some experienced 3-point shooters in the portal. I still hope Hemingway will improve but he’s too mechanical which I believe leads to inconsistency. We need to find what we wanted in him with demonstrated performance over several years somewhere else.

to think that players in the Portal are much more desirable than recruiting players out of high school. I myself tend to believe the OPPOSITE is true. The overwhelming majority of players in the Portal are there because they could not beat out others at their position to get playing time. You can try to sugarcoat it any way you want, but that is the underlying theme of the Portal, I, ME, NOW. Rico's time is NOW!

Saying Brad Brownell is not a successful recruiter is not being negative, it is being TRUTHFUL. He seems to have flipped the ###### from what most coaches do, and recruits mostly out of the Portal. This, right away puts Clemson at a disadvantage, because by and large, Portal players have used up at least some portion of their eligibility prior to ever coming here. So, the team is in a constant state of rebuild from year to year.

Secondly, as last night once again painfully proved, Brad Brownell has not the first clue about how to do late game time management. He also has no clue about how to dial up a set play to get a high percentage shot at the end. Think about this. The BEST three point shooters are only successful about 33% of the time. So, if you set up a 3 pointer as your last gasp shot, right out of the gate there is a 2 out of 3 chance that you are going to lose the game. That's not negativity, is it facts and statistics.

I remember back in the days when Bill Foster was our coach, he had a player named Fred Gilliam. He had a set play that the team could run that would virtually GUARANTEE Gilliam would have an open look from just above the free throw line. He might make it or not, but that shot was there for the taking anytime he wanted, whenever they ran that play. Which they did, successfully, several times a game.

Lastly, teams are usually a reflection of their coach, and this Clemson team is no different. Their head coach does not inspire confidence, and the team plays the same. They play the last five minutes of games like they are just waiting for the other shoe to drop, and, guess what, it usually does. Now, since Brad Brownell is not going to do a personality makeover at this point, the best thing he could actually do for Clemson is to WALK AWAY after this miserable season is done. THAT is how he can fix it.
