People say give him time to recruit.. maybe they don’t fit what he wants to do but OU still gets plenty of 4&5 star guys on the defense.. why doesn’t he adjust to fit his players style until he gets his players in recruiting

Riley's defenses at OU were never good. This is what CBV has inherited. He'll have to start it all over.

Venables may have to do both roles of head coach and Defensive Coordinator. Having someone else do something you want done will be off a little bit or off a lot most times.

Tbf, BV’s early defenses at Clemson weren’t all world, shut down units from day 1. Don’t think they were as bad as what OU is putting out there this year but I do believe there’s some validity to him needing to get his own recruits for his system. That said, the boomers and sooners he’s got running around out there now look both out of position and slow to the spot. They’ve looked like a pile of mess the past two weeks.
