Hunter Johnson as backup QB?

Apr 4, 2021, 2:05 PM

Due to Covid doesn’t Johnson still have a year of eligibility? I know it didn’t work out at NW, but he’d have an excellent chance to play a good amount of snaps in DV again and have some quality receivers that the Wildcats lacked.

I saw a post that he may have given up football due to health issues in his family, but if he’s available that could be a transfer worth looking into.

That’d be great. Seemed like a really good kid. Maybe he needs a masters degree.

Don’t think he would be a viable backup option

He was one of the worst quarterbacks in D1 at northwestern

I’m just thinking a seasoned QB that knows the offense. Provide some competitive depth and help raise some of the younger guys coming in this summer. In any case, I don’t think it is going to happen. But he always seemed to have high character.

NW had a bad Oline and very little at WR. He lost his confidence I think, then fell down the depth chart the next year. He was in the Clemson program longer and has more experience than anyone we have behind DJ. I don’t see how adding Johnson would be bad thing.

If we’re going for a former Tiger QB

Apr 4, 2021, 2:44 PM

How about Zerrick Cooper? He did pretty well at Jacksonville. Not sure if he has eligibility or interest though.

I’d like that too!

Cooper left so he could play. I doubt he's coming back just to sit again.
