Is there any reason to have pre season rankings?

Looks at Florida beating a highly ranked Utah team (at home) and then whipped by a Kentucky Dfense. Georgia jumping Alabama this week with a mediocre game against Samford with the reasoning being the throttling of an most likely over ranked Oregon team.
The funny thing is everyone considers these as top 25 wins. Heck Ohio State has the best win right now against #5 Notre Dame! This will be taken into consideration at the end of the season.

I haven’t looked at the rankings yet. I would have dropped them to around 15 or so. I’ll go check now to see if voters voted as I would.

I see I have a differing opinion than most voters as to what a loss to App State means.

Why is it wild? They are 1-1 and they were 6th and went to 23. Thats harsh enough. Its not like they won't likely end up in the top 25.
