I think it shows that vaccinated people aren't 100% safe, especially those who are higher risk to begin with. I think that's something most people already realize.

I do think these stats don't tell a full story however. For starters, how many people are these statistics based on? 100? 500? 1,000 or more? How many of the vaccinated in the hospital were in high risk groups, how many of the unvaccinated?

Also, based on the link, only 22% of the population there is unvaccinated but they still make up over 40% of those hospitalized. I realize the percentage of those in the hospital that are vaccinated is much higher than most would assume(again why it's important to me to know the number of patients these percentages are based on) but even these stats show that the vaccinated people are less likely to end up in the hospital compared to those who aren't.

hospital would be vaccinated.

But instead of having 436 in Prisma right now, we would have 52 - and instead of 96 people in ICU, we would have 10 and instead of 54 people on ventilators, we would have 4.

But 100% of the people would have received the vax.

We really have no clue how many of those unvaccinated people would still have to be there if they were vaccinated.

As stated below, 22% of the eligible population is unvax'd.

40% of the total population is unvaccinated. So they didn't reach 70% (or more?) needed to get herd immunity

something else that should be tracked, but doesn't appear to be. Just like they aren't asking all folks who test positive if they have been vaccinated (right now, it seems that they are only tracking those hospitalized, not all of the 'breakthrough' cases), they also don't appear to be tracking how many folks that are testing positive/getting hospitalized that have tested positive before.

Either way, I'm fine if this is true. because doesn't it mean that we will get to herd immunity sooner than later with the rate that folks are getting it now? I just hope the healthcare system and folks can hold up. What is happening right now is taking it's toll for sure.

Israel is not 78% vaccinated....

that is the vaccination rate of 12 and older.

The total fully vaccinated rate is 60.4% according to the stats showing today.

What is interesting about Israel is the population age distribution. Israel is relatively young (not sure why that is) and a lot of the younger population is not vaccinated...meaning almost all of the older population is vaccinated. Also, the country rolled out vaccinations so quickly and effectively that the overwhelming majority of vaccinations were issued in February and it's believed they're seeing the effects of waning efficacy.

Delta is hitting the younger folks harder now.

So it's a bit of a good problem/bad problem situation there.

Booster shots are showing good initial promise there.

Vaccinated are fairing much better than unvaccinated.

In other words, I think it requires a deeper dive to make such proclomations.

Man, that's very disturbing. Were all of ya'll's symptoms relatively mild?

I'm vaccinated since April but decided to cut an extended trip out West short. Things were degrading rapidly and I didn't want to get in a bad situation far from home. Good to be home where I can isolate. Was isolated pretty much out there camping in the forests but still had to get gas and go to the store, etc. Five weeks camping is hard work!

basically a bad cold. All had a bad cold, half had fever, half lost there smell and taste. Most were better in about a week. It took me about 2 weeks. A few days sick then just fatigued.

I was never worried and always glad I was vaccinated. My O2 never dropped.
