If we find ourselves looking to hire a new offensive coach after the season

our first call should be to Art Briles.
He’s an offensive genius, and his ideas would likely help our program bounce back to elite status much faster.
Whether hired as an OC or consultant, he would be a great addition.
I know he has made some mistakes, but I think he has done his penance and would probably jump at the chance to be somewhere like Clemson.

Who is Brad going to hire to fix his offensive woes?

Unlike the football program who is having one bad year this seems to be a problem for the basketball program every year.

Brad already has it figured out.

1. When you’re not good at 3-pointers, the other team will leave you open to attempt those shots.
2. You take the wide open shots, because that’s “good offense.”
3. About once every 5 or 6 games, you have a good day and make enough of them to score maybe enough to win.
4. When the open shots don’t go in the hoop…well, it’s not the coach’s fault.

Plus, this year Dabo has every advantage and we struggle to score 20 points. That’s on him.

Wow, I forgot about that guy. I completely agree. I doubt he would be hired as a coach initially, but he would be a great offensive consultant that could really give this offense a shot in the arm with a fresh look.

Funny you mention he would be a shot in the arm.
I'm pretty sure a shooting was one of the things he covered up at Baylor.

For sure. I thought of him a few games back. His concepts of field spacing and timing would be great with the guys we have. As an analyst he could really add some valuable input. I am all for that. We cant be so self righteous that we turn away bright minds!!

I'd go back and try to buy out Jeff Scotts contract, then bring Brad to call the plays from the press box and have Jeff on the sideline.

Save a football program? Have you lost your mind? We are 4-2 in a down year with a one score loss to the #1 team in the nation and a OT loss to a top 25 team on the road. What reasonable person thinks our program needs saving?

I'm with you JStone. In previous seasons, some were worried about TE taking a HC job somewhere. Now, with a 4-2 they want to jump ship, and kick him under the bus. Less than honorable.
I think we'll be fine WHEN DJ5 gets the NIL crap out of his head. Hopefully before Saturday at Pitt.

Being a transplanted Texan, I watched every game Art Briles coached at U of H and at Baylor, as well as some HS games on Houston PBS when he coached at that level with HUGE success and multiple Texas State Championships. Briles is an absolute offensive genius, not necessarily because of the plays he runs but HOW & When he runs them. His players love him and he recruits "speed" at every position that is just remarkable and a lot of it is in kids who other schools overlooked. He is the polar opposite of TE in personality, spiritual beliefs and overall philosophy of both life and football. Would he fit into the "family" at Clemson......I doubt it. Is he the most creative offensive mind of ours, or any other, generation.......you better believe it. You never know what to expect with Art Briles. That is what makes him an offensive genius and also contributed to his downfall. Last I heard of him he was back home in the Fort Worth area doing counseling work and consulting with HS kids. I heard he has done a complete 180 spiritually and for that I congratulate him. If he truly has his heart right, he will be back on the coaching stage someday soon and when he reappears......look out and prepare for fireworks.

Not sure your interest in bringing in a low class sexual assault supporter.
Also, your continued attack and passive aggressive posts about Dabo and players is pretty sad. Why not use some of your energy on a coach who has yet to perform well instead of being critical of a coach who has won 2 natties and made the final 4 playoffs 6 years in a row?

My view on Art Briles. (I will only discuss my views of hima as a football coach. Delving into the off the field stuff and how much of that was his fault is way too complex to explain in a message board post.)
When Briles was HC at Baylor, I absolutely loved his offense. Offense and defense are chess games. OCs figure out an offense to defeat a defense. DCs eventually figure out a way to defend that offense. (Wing T, Wishbone, Power I, Spread, RPO, whatever.) Eventually DCs figure out how to scheme against the offense. It may take a few years, but eventually they do. Oklahoma, Texas and Bama are not running the wishbone today for a very good reason.
Well, I don't know exactly what Briles did, but he figured out a way to attack defenses in a way that they couldn't defend. He tweaked the 4-WR, up tempo offense and made it a thing of beauty. He was definitely a step (or several) ahead of the DCs for his last few years at Baylor.
If he came to Clemson as an offensive consultant, then it would have to mean that Dabo was changing his offensive philosophy (like Saban did when he hired Kiffin). Briles would be of little use trying to consult on tweaking the current offense Clemson runs. It would be like hiring Darrel Royal as a consultant and not running the wishbone.

Judge,
I agree with you, I replied the same thing in a post a few weeks back. There is a stigma/perception issue with him, but there shouldn’t be. He was cleared of any wrong doing or knowledge, he’s an offensive genius and innovator. I think he would be a great mentor to guys on the offensive staff to sort of go Chad process 2.0. He would assuredly get a head gig at a program within a year or 2 and that’s his goal, so have Streeter or whomever Dabo wants as the long term guy learn the offense and concepts then take over when he moves on, wish it would happen but doubt it will:

That's simply not true. He was cleared of any NCAA rules violations, but that was because the entire school was mishandling allegations, not just football. He absolutely had knowledge, and absolutely did wrong.
“In each instance, when the head coach received information from a staff member regarding potential criminal conduct by a football student-athlete, he did not report the information and did not personally look any further into the matter,” the panel said. “His incurious attitude toward potential criminal conduct by his student-athletes was deeply troubling to the panel.
“As one panel member observed at the hearing when questioning the head coach’s lack of response to this information, ‘a lot of these things that we’re talking about, they’re not NCAA rules violations . . . (or) university policy violations. They’re felonies. (W)e’re talking about rapes and physical assaults,’” according to the report. “The head coach failed to meet even the most basic expectations of how a person should react to the kind of conduct at issue in this case. Furthermore, as a campus leader, the head coach is held to an even higher standard. He completely failed to meet this standard.”
"In the end, the NCAA determined that non-reporting of assault occurred throughout the entire campus, not just in the football program, and was thus not deemed an improper benefit."
