If men's Track & Field is dropped, women....

sports and athletes will greatly outnumber men student athletes. The male athletes will be 229 and women athletes 318. I understand Title IX but this seems excessive considering football will make almost 40% of the male athletes.
I would love for Clemson to maintain the male track and field as many of the football players have been great track additions while I'm sure they benefit from free coaching. I understand that the female track team has hired an attny to help fight for men's track as their argument is the benefit of co-training with male athletes.
I would also like to see wrestling added to the male sports. Wrestling is one of the reasons I came to Clemson which was dropped while I was there. Doubt it happens but ACC actually has some good competition in the sport.

Clemson decided to go "all in" on football a while ago - 10+ years. It worked but the negatives is that other programs are now in the football pot.
I wish more supporters stepped up to support T&F but that does not look like it is going to happen.

So, If Clemson had not gone "all in" on football, there would be a whole lot less $ to divvy up. Right? For sure. So, going all in on football is not what has led to eliminating men's sports while simultaneously adding women's sports. It's people in elite positions engineering society. I really don't like being engineered personally.

Well, it is a zero-sum game and if you want to invest MORE in football, you have to pull it from somewhere. You still have to provide equal opportunity to play, so if you create a juggernaut level of demand in one sport, then it has to come from somewhere. Since all colleges get federal funding (and jeeze we are a land grant school), they have to comply with Title IX equal opportunity requirements.
And while a few folks grunt about title IX, the key is in title IX's wording..
"Participation: Title IX requires that women and men be provided equitable opportunities to participate in sports. Title IX does not require institutions to offer identical sports but an equal opportunity to play" If you are doling out X amount of resources and X scholarships in football, that means there will be less resources for other male sports as the womens sports would require an equal opportunity *somewhere*. Not pure equal funding - most men athletes have about $40,000 more spent on them per athlete so it isn't just a one-to-one type of thing.
A lot of programs were in denial about the financial reality of supporting a lot sports. Take Maryland. They basically reside to cut their classical "Olympic" sports while also chasing the spend more in their football/basketball product. When football did not make the revenue quota, they jumped to the B10 rather than make cut because the B10 front-loaded their entry money and bought time for the Athletic program. Hasn't really helped in the long run.
As a girl dad, you are not being "engineered" - They have the IRB for that by the way, not title IX. However, darn straight that my athletically gifted daughter is going to have an equal shot at the opportunity to play.

Don't worry Biden and the democrats have a plan to solve this problem. The men identify as women and bam they are on the womens team, problem solved And if Clemson refuses they can sue and Clemson could lose federal funding as per our new amazing govt.(sarcasm but true)
