Phil Mafah

With Dixon gone, I predict that Mafah makes his first appearance on Saturday. My next prediction is that he'll be so good that he'll pass Pace on the depth chart. Shipley and Mafah will be a 1-2 punch.

I agree, If Mafah makes an impact with his touches. Unfortunately Pace has had 3 games and hasn’t really done much. Hopefully Pace and the entire offense has a breakout game Sat in Raleigh!

Pace just needs to start running with his head up. He has missed his cut backs the few times he has gotten by the line/first level. But it "appears" he is just trying to get 5 tough yards and fall instead of making someone miss on the second level.

Wouldn't surprise me if we lose another RB to the transfer portal. With most teams playing their 4th game this weekend. The portal will become crowded next week.

I predict you are wrong. Shipley is the work horse. Pace spells him some and dukes/rencher get sprinkled in very little.

I like Pace but I completely agree. Long term I think it’s Shipley-Mafah

If Mafah is as good as Swinney says, I don't see him staying

for 5 years. Rencher and Dukes just aren't playmakers. What it the point of a redshirt if the guy isn't staying 5 years. Especially given the short shelf life of running backs in football.

I think Dukes is our most violent(didn't say best) runner, but he cannot hang onto the ball. Just watch next time he gets a chance to run his effort and how he delivers the blow to the tacklers.

Love Rencher’s dedication and loyalty. But, don’t

understand why he is getting carries.
Especially early in games.
Skalski and Turner coming back as 6th year starters made sense.
Rencher returning simply crowded an already over-crowded RB room.

Did we ever learn what Lyn J did to get so publicly rebuked

by Coach Swinney? Maybe that was the problem. Too many carries for Rencher and Dukes.
Dabo's public comments seemed pretty strong for the situation - like they were trying to run him off.

All I know is that Dabo told him to grow up, and he showed Dabo how grown up he is by moving out.

Because Rencher knows he doesn't have an NFL career. He is building his podcast and making NIL while hanging out getting free room and board. Why not hang out, get free education, he would have been dumb to leave when living is free and you enjoy football plus get your name on a Disney plaque.

while the game is in doubt. Especially this season when our young RBs need every bit of experience they can get.
Rencher sticking around another year is not a problem since he isn’t taking a scholarship from anyone else.
Giving him valuable snaps is an issue.

I don't think Dabo wants to burn a year on Mafah this season, I think he's trying to do the 4 games and Redshirt him. Tho I agree he's probably right there with Shipley talent wise as the top 2 at the position, but with Dukes and Rencher still here, Dabo will more than likely hold til next season before going with the 1-2 punch of Shipley and Mafah.

I thought Dabo or Elliot said that he was week to week. At this point holding Mafah for RS if he can help this team does not make sense.
Am I wrong about him having an injury?

I really don't see many potential NFL backs staying in school more than three years. Play me or I walk. Inflated ego's or star rankings drive their need to be seen on tape. There are many other schools that will accomodate their dreams. Clemson is one of a few schools where loyalty and trusting the system remains. With NIL and the portal, how long we remain there is the question.
