If I had to guess on the LSU search....

I have no inside sources, but if I had a paid website and wanted clicks I would claim my inside source tells me it's down to four people.
1. James Franklin
2. Luke Fickell
3. Billy Napier
4. Lane Kiffin
My source tells me that James Franklin is their first choice. The job is his if he wants it. If he doesn't, or if LSU won't meet his price, then there is no clear cut second choice. My source tells me that his sources disagree on who the second choice is, some say Kiffin others say Napier and others say Fickell.
Note: A USC site is saying (worried?) that LSU and USC are going to get into a bidding war for Franklin or Fickell.

exactly flip the order. Kiffin first, then Napier, then Fickell, with Franklin a poor last. Like the old Shanier Twayne song, "He don't impress me, much."

if Franklin gets it he should send ESPN a big check. They are always hyping him and I just dont get it. Petrino at LSU. Now that is a fit.

Well and when you look back to his Vandy days I agree. It's like when ESPN hired Vilma for tv after he ran a bounty program to hurt guys in the NFL. It just speaks volumes about organizations that knowingly extoll those type characters.

Word is, Brady just wants to coach. He doesn't want to manage a program or deal with recruiting. He's a perfect fit for the NFL.

LSU is about as rogue as you can get right now. Were it not for Coach O being forced out at least in part for hiding or not reporting sexual assaults I could see them making that reach for Art Briles.

I'd say Fickell is more likely to take the USC/LSU job than Franklin.
I'd expect Franklin to stay at Penn State especially if he gets a big payday due to interest from other programs.
The record he has had at Penn State wouldn't be accepted at the places that are considering him. Isn't he basically 8-3 most years with no real runs at the playoff?

I dunno about LSU. Hard to tell who fits there.
I'll say this: LSU is probably the easiest job in the country to win a championship considering Les Miles and Orgeron did

You may be right. Jimmy Sexton is his agent. There is no one better than Sexton at getting the current school to greatly increase the salary of the coach by putting out information that the coach is negotiating with other schools.

if he wants to wait for something else in the Big 10? If Day ever left OSU, Fickell is the obvious replacement and if LSU did get Franklin then you'd have to think Fickell goes there. Its worth noting that Fickell is nearly 50 years old has only lived outside the state of OHio for a few months. He may just love his state and stay put until the OSU job opens up....or something like Notre Dame or Penn State.
I think Kiffin is down on the list of guys and it'll be interesting to see what they think about Napier.

Seriously, I just check message boards, mainly for entertainment purposes, and google "LSU coaching search" and scan a couple of articles.
I've seen so many names listed by people who claim to have "sources." (Side Note: In true Cajun fashion the LSU board calls them "sauces.") I have seen names from Nick Saban to Dabo Swinney all the way down to Deion Sanders from people who claim to have sauces.
20-30 years ago, before ADs learned how social media worked, it was much easier to separate fact from fiction. Now, it is virtually impossible.
My best guess, and it is just a guess, as I wade through all this stuff is that Franklin is #1 on their list. The other three - I have no idea what order they are in.
But, I'm just guessing. No one should go online and place a bet based on anything I say.

And, one more note.
Yes, I have seen Joe Brady and Dave Aranda mentioned.
Most folks think Brady is an NFL coach and not interested in returning to college.
When the announcement was made about O my first thought was Dave Aranda. He may very well be high on their list. But, I get the sense Woodward (AD) will go for a guy with a track record as a HC.
