ACC by tiers.

Oct 2, 2022, 2:19 PM

After 5 weeks this is where I would put the teams. All teams in the same tier are roughly equal. As the season progresses some teams will move up, others down. But, I doubt any team will move more than one tier, one way or the other.

Tier 1: Clemson (still the class of conference).
Tier 2: Wake, NCSU
Tier 3: FSU, Cuse, Duke, UNC, Pitt
Tier 4: Everybody else

Note: 3 weeks from now I'll probably have movement between 3 and 4, but I don't expect any movement in or out of 1 and 2.

Interesting thought: Apparently Tony Elliott had his choice of UVA or Duke. He chose, wisely IMHO, UVA. Much higher ceiling. I would have never thought that at this point in the season it appears Duke has a far better team.

Duke was left with far better players and they stayed. At UVA the players left for greener pastures. Tony has a tougher rebuilding job, but as you say, he has a higher ceiling at UVA

I think FSU beats NC State next week. It's easy to be bullish on the Seminoles considering how they've looked the past few years, but they are a real team this year and probably Clemson's biggest test left.

I think there will be movement between 2 and 3 as well, possibly a couple of more teams moving into Tier 2...

I particularly enjoy Davey D's tears and angst. I'm sure last night was due to their travails in travel or a random laptop somewhere. ;)

I would say FSU after beating LSU in Louisiana is Tier 2. I may even put Wake in Tier 1 with Clemson(I know).

1. Clemson, Wake
2. FSU, NCSU
3. Syracuse, Duke, Pitt, N.Carolina
4. Everybody else.

If FSU beats NCST - You should take hiatus for some time....

Oct 2, 2022, 2:52 PM

with a tiger win at BC that CU/FSU game will be an "all the marbles" game in Tallahassee - be like old days ...I know you see this coming - FSU can clean the ACC schedule from that point IMO

Not really! Clemson beat Wake, FSU lost to Wake.

At that point; I guess it would depend on what Wake does and who is ranked higher.

All the marbles? If and that would be a big if

Oct 2, 2022, 4:01 PM [ in reply to If FSU beats NCST - You should take hiatus for some time.... ]

FSU ran the table then there would probably be a 3 way tie with CU, WF and FSU at 7-1 and Clemson would get the nod as the highest ranked team I imagine as I believe the other tiebreakers wouldn’t break the 3way tie as you’d would have in division round robin losses amongst those 3

Im not sure yet on fsu and cuse. And unc...

Oct 2, 2022, 3:17 PM

We will learn about cuse this weekend vs state. Fsu had chances vs wake and have otherwise looked solid.

Duke and pitt should be in the everyone else pile especially after pitt just lost to GT.

Now UNC is an interesting team....can score lights out but D is very suspect. Could be a team you dont want to play later this season, we'll see.

I like how submissive you are.***
