If Clemson, UNC and FSU states intentions to Leave The ACC..

Jul 3, 2022, 8:15 AM

Will fold like a lawn chair...

If some of the comments suggesting that if the ACC hits a certain number of schools wanting to leave the GOR deal becomes null and void is true that's the avenue to take it would seem.

Clemson, UNC and FSU IMO are the lynch pins that keeps this league intact...maybe to a degree Duke and Miami as well..

If these three Schools decided to leave I could see Pitt, Syracuse, BC and maybe UVA ask the BIG 10 for membership and Clemson, UNC, FSU and Miami..

Which team is going to make the first move? You don't have to say when you'll leave. Just declare intentions and a "willingness" to negotiate the exit and the dominoes will fall.

I wanted to add that Clemson, UNC, FSU and Miami petitions the SEC for membership..

I’m sure there is a lot to talk and negotiate but it seems Texas/OU and the USC/UCLA deals happened fairly quick.

Not sure if the folks running the ACC knew this was coming why have they not been proactive. Same for the PAC 12. If things can in no way be competitive monetarily in the ACC not sure why Clemson does not go ahead and make their intentions known. It’s like let’s wait and see where we end up instead of ending up where we want to be.

A little frustrating to say the least and what does this do for recruiting going forward.

I don’t know how you could anticipate two west coast schools bolting to join a league with the closest member being 1500 miles away. Most folks would have said that’s just plain stupid, because it is.

This has continued to be talked about and seemed to be coming to fruition when OU and Texas joined the SEC and I’m figuring most knew the PAC 12 would not be a Power 2, or the ACC for that matter so their teams would inevitably have to go somewhere. Oregon and Washington could be SEC schools before it’s all said and done. I’m sure they will want to dip into those parts of the US as well. It’s all dollars not mileage. But the more I think about it the ACC was worried about an alliance or basically a band aid which in hindsight is embarrassing. ACC has really screwed theirselves in the teams they have added and I’m not sure how to categorize the current tv deals without being disrespectful. Better leadership early on could have changed the current direction or even the demise of the conference.

I too think it’s crazy especially for the athletic departments in thinking it’s good for these kids to travel so much and go to school but in the end the kid can make up his own mind on where he or she ends up.

NC with one of the last to leave the ACC because of basketball. I believe Miami, Clemson, and Florida State will go SEC. Oklahoma State will make it #20

It might be that if a certain number of ACC schools leave, the GOR deal becomes null and void. I don’t know.

But I would also think if a certain number of ACC schools leave, the league may look no longer exist, and therefore there is no entity to charge / receive the penalty.

I could see the SEC wanting to move into the other Carolina and possibly Virginia and telling Clemson and FSU it's a package deal. Deliver us UNC and UVA too and you are all four in. I would take it.

A friend of mine writes for the Rubbing Rock?? Not real sure what they call it but he sent some screenshots from FGF about his article being mentioned and is wearing it as a badge of pride!!

Those folks think they have Clemson by the Bxlls.

By the way if you have not heard we are the “tallest midget” in the ACC. Not sure how a team with their sub par performances year in and year out can even utter anything negative about anybody.

usUc sits at the kiddie table in the SEC, right there with Vandy and Mizzou. Without coat tails on which to ride, they would never even leave the starting line.
