If Brad Brownell survives this season and is retained...

Feb 12, 2022, 8:55 PM

that will speak volumes about the priority level and importance of the men's basketball program in the eyes of the Clemson administration, as if they haven't already made that abundantly clear.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

It already does.***

Yeah I agree. No one cares. Neff can gain a lot of fans, but doubt he does. As long as they have a class guy like Brad who does things the right way, he's not going anywhere...

He’ll get the proverbial talking to about what the expectations are for next season at the end of the year. Then he’ll go out and place in the top 6 of the ACC, lose in the first round of the ACC tournament, and then make the NCAA tournament. He’ll get a 5 year extension and then repeat the process.

I don’t think even the most optimistic fan believes Brad can lead us to even a conference championship. Why are we still doing this.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

“Even a conference championship”?

Feb 12, 2022, 10:18 PM

You do know how many of those we’ve achieved in nearly 70 years of playing ACC basketball, right? Hint - less than 1.

Winning an ACC Title (the tournament winner is the ACC Champ) would be even more rare of an accomplishment than winning at Chapel Hill.

Pretty rough history lesson!

If we quit sending in our Iptay contributions that will get their attention since they are barely above water in operating the sports programs. The ADM used to listen to their customers but they have gotten a little arrogant due to Dabos success.

Are there people that donate to IPTAY just for basketball? Because I donate for my football tickets and I’m not giving those up just to “send a message” about basketball.

Yea I find that very very unlikely to happen with any sane IPTAY donor dropping their donation for the sake of the Basketball program when they know Football season tickets and parking pass are at a risk

Yes, me too. Not giving up the football perks.
I will stop going to basketball games tho.

The Brad Brownell era is over.

He's done everything well, except win enough. Hate it for him, but it's over.

Neff's young. Will take some juevos, but business is busines

Meh, it's been years. Not that I have an answer....

Feb 12, 2022, 9:43 PM

Trying to run up against ACC, even teams in "down years" somehow get the better of this team. Recruiting has its moments, but nothing spectacular. NIL will get interesting when blue blood teams really take advantage. Assuming it stays the same anyway. Whole other discussion...

I think it would take either a ton of money, with a mediocre coach and SUPERIOR talent, or A GREAT coach that can work with lesser talent. We are missing on both currently, so expect similar results until one of those change.

I was concerned when Beadle redshirted from the get go. With this level of talent that he isnt in the pt discussion at all may not bode well

Re: If Brad Brownell survives this season and is retained...

Feb 12, 2022, 9:40 PM

Yes good point. He is supposed to be a really good scorer and taller then some of the other guards, and Brad didn't want to play him and have him redshirt. Tells me Brad pretty confident hes coming back.

Re: If Brad Brownell survives this season and is retained...

Feb 12, 2022, 9:52 PM

yeah I've wondered about that too. I guess if BB comes back we keep some interesting incoming talent which we can also redshirt to bring in someone who cant hit ft's again too.

We also gave a scholarship to a walk-on that hasn’t sniffed the floor yet. A walk-on earning a scholarship to become a contributor is a great story and we love that. A walk-on riding the pine with a scholarship is just a sign the coach can’t recruit.

Crazy Brad didn't use that last scholarship. You have to with the transfer portal now. Got to keep it up in case guys leave during the season, injuries and other factors.

If they don't retain him then they need steal UNT Mean Greens head coach. The Mean Green under him plays all 4 periods. Not just 3 periods.
