Taylor should NOT throw out of the wildcat

Until its a competitive opponent. Why put it on film against SC ST when we can surprise BC or Pitt with it?

We should not need trick plays/schemes to beat Pitt or BC.

If we do, something is clearly wrong.

If you’ve thought of it, why would it be a surprise to BC or Pitt?

If all he ever does is run leading up to them

1. They have to honor the run 2. They have no clue what kind of route to defend.... simple slants? Verticals? Playaction to the TE running up the seem would be money.

Never cared for the wildcat. Opposing team knows who is going to run or pass the ball most of the time. However, some teams do run it successfully.

Agreed that any play to a TE would surprise and shock the living daylights out of everyone in the stadium.

Why would we run the wildcat for a perimeter run? If it’s not a B gap run we have plenty of players and plays to get the edge . Isn’t bad if we do it in a hurry up style but seems a little predictable as is . Probably a crucial turnover waiting to happen

You run it because you have an extra blocker. At least that is the conventional wisdom.

Actually it’s to keep the defense guessing or to power run in it’s original function. I think the point is this one is doing neither against even a lesser Meac team .

Good teams don't have to save plays...Good teams have SO

MANY good plays that they can waste them on crappy opponents to make other teams have to worry about them...That's what GOOD offensive teams do

Correct-a-mondo. I say saving plays is from 48-1/2 to 50-1/2 years ago philosphies. Today, run every play in the book (trick or not) out of different formations and mutliple times during the season.
Then when it comes championship season, an opposing DC will pull his hair out trying to prepare for a game because any play or any trick can come at any time from any formation.
