Final 7 Games

1

Feb 7, 2023, 2:20 PM

Looking ahead, our home games with FSU, Syracuse, and Notre Dame are going to be of utmost importance for this team with the other 4 remaining games being on the road.

As far as getting a win at UNC or Virginia, neither really seems likely, but Louisville should be a lock and NC State is doable.

If we can hold up at home, take care of Louisville, and maybe steal one at NC State, we end at 15-5 in the ACC which is surely a top 4 seed in the tournament. However, if we slip up at home, things could get dicey quick.

Honestly that game at Louisville scares me, that would be the ultimate dagger, but hopefully we can take care of business.

Go Tigers!

I see a Norte Dame loss as the head coach never displays a next game up mentality and either has the team focusing on a past win or a future game and never prepared for the present games like this that many over look.

It’s our coach’s MO.

Final seven games I see 3 wins 4 losses with ND being the fourth.

I think realistically we end up 4-3, which would be 14-6 in the ACC, 21-9 on the season, which is a pretty good season overall and gives us a chance to make some noise post season.

I'm still pretty confident, we have had to add Galloway and Hemenway back into the lineup on the fly the last game, with some extra time to get back in the groove and no further injuries we should be ok I think.

If we go 4-3 we will need at least 2 acc tournament wins or it's NIT bound

I wouldn't be nearly as concerned about the Louisville game

if not for the debacle at Boston College last Tuesday night. I thought ("hoped" is probably a better choice of words) that the team had progressed beyond having games like that, but I was clearly mistaken.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. That being said, I do feel like most teams are due for that one stinker of a road game each year, hopefully that was ours.

Georgia Tech has one ACC win this season, against Miami of all people, the hottest team in the league at the moment. Watching Alabama get waxed by Oklahoma on the road was an odd sight as well. So it can happen to anyone, just can't let it happen twice.

Actually...it has happened three times so far this year...

South Carolina and Loyola-Chicago were both Quad 4 losses, and BC was a Quad 3 loss.

Like I said, it's happened 3 times, you just can't let it happen 4 times ;)

Three might be too many...

I can't remember a time since the NET rankings were used when the tournament committee selected a team with more than one Quad 4 loss. I don't think that has ever happened.

2 weeks ago, I presumed we were a lock

for a first round bye in the ACC and for an NCAA berth. But if they can’t stop turning the ball over and get something going inside, we will get neither. I now think we CAN win 2 of 3 at home and 2 of 4 on the road, to finish 21-9 and 14-6. I would have been thrilled with that picture in December, but it certainly now looks like no ACC bye and who knows in the tourney? Feels like we are the weakest 10-3 team in conference history.

I see the NC State game as the key. Burns is a beast inside and Smith may be the best player in the conference. Clearly Pitt has the easiest remaining schedule with Miami just behind. I would be shocked it those teams don't take to top 2 spots and for us to be either 3rd or 4th, you are correct that we need to find a way to be 15-5.
