I think that’s fair. But it was really Nuk’s catch against LSU.

But before we get on Bowden too much, think about:
He brought, initially, excitement back to the program - even if it was just the "Bowden" name, and if course, the "Bowden Bowl" - a national event.
He was in a position to demand a commitment to facilities upgrades.
He was smart enough to hire Dabo.
Classy enough to suggest his own leaving - and then strongly recommended CU consider Dabo as head coach.
No Tommy Bowden - no Dabo.
Bowden - at least - STARTED the rebuild.

I don't think there can be a better answer!!!
Unless it was when TB suggested to TDP that Dabo took over until proven otherwise! CTB gave his biggest contribution to Clemson the day he suggested Dabo took the controls! Actually I think we need to give CTB a million dollar bonus for his retirement!

I would say the exact point is when the last second ticked off the game clock against Wake Forrest in 2008.

I would say it was a week after the Wake Forest game when Zimmerman shanked a punt against GT and came to the sideline with his head hung low, but Dabo sent him back onto the field to run off like a man. That was just the first step of many in changing the culture of the program and we haven't looked back since.

I was sitting in Iraq ready to fly home and they had the game on In the hub. I saw that same thing and was like YASSSS! This guy is lighting some fires. Did I know it would turn out like it did? Heck no, but sure glad TDP knew something about it!

It changed during the Chik-fil-a Kickoff Classic against Bama when Bowdens overranked Top 10 soft screen throwing team got pounded into submission and exposed by Saban’s second year program on the rise. It was evident then nothing Bowden had built could withstand even a Category 1 Hurricane. He needed to go and Dabo was the catalyst with the vision of greatness, not mediocrity. It evolved with the hiring of Chad Morris and the new paradigm that Clemson could have a dynamic offense that the best skill position players wanted to be in. It matured with the Orange Bowl debacle against West Virginia that led to Steele being fired and Venables being hired and completed the total commitment to defense as well as offense. None of this happens without the right coaches at the right time, including ScElliott taking The Chad’s system and running with it to make it a truly balanced offense while still being dangerous. Then feed this monster with a steadily improving talent level of great kids, place in the oven and bake for 4 years = 2016 Natty and beyond.

When we lost to West Virginia...

Fired Steele, hired Venables and the rest is history. 97-11 since. Some may forget we were actually 11-2 when we beat LSU and co-division leaders. FSU won it due to head to head win. LSU win may have been our arrival but the West Virginia game, to me, was the turning point.
